Multi speed stand-up drill press. The faster the spin the better it heats up. Forget a drill. Eastwood or harbor for polishing wheels, Different rouge polishing bars. Goggles and face masks. A trip to U-haul to take away recycled cardboard. Build a polishing booth around the drill press, the size part to be polished, and elbow room size to move the part around. Cover top of booth with plastic.

Have a shop vac, and an air compressor ready. Wear throwaway jump suits, gloves, slippers. The fiber on the wheel is going to fling off all over the place and on you. The rouge will turn charcoal to black because of the aluminum being cut. The part can be fucked up, gouged, dinged, line marks, whatever, you have enough material to polish out whatever damage is to that part. Only your eye will tell where that wave is on the finish. Anyone looking it over won't catch it. It's that subtle.

Thanks for all the help guys, very much appreciated. I love my "new" 05 Ridgeback. It only has 1970 original miles and the old man i bought it from had it detailed and all the aluminum polished last year but i just want to maintain the shine it has.

hate to say it, but it looks like that reset button has caught the same disease as the rest of them. "The Funk", they all start degrading eventually and when that happens, they can easily get water in them. just a heads up.
