This is tough for me since I purchased this bike brand new and was the sole owner. I debated long and hard whether to keep and repair it or settle with the insurance company and move in a different direction. I decided to settle but would like to see it go to someone who truly appreciates the Big Dog brand, hence the reason for this post. It is currently listed on the Copart web site: https://www.copart.com/lot/57977179 and the current bid is $2,050. According to Copart, bid increments are $50.00 and there is no reserve. The winning bid will be determined Tuesday Jan 07, 2020 at 10:00 AM EST. Primary Damage listed as front end is misleading as the primary damage is the right side (left side pristine), such as pipes, mirror, forward control, headlight, air cleaner filter, etc. I rode it 90 miles (back roads, highway and interstate) home after the accident and noticed no issues with handling. Again, this is just a heads up for someone that might be interested in a winter project.

If the tins are intact with minimal damage, they are worth more than the current bid. Looks like a deal for someone. Thanks for sharing.

Yea PK, the tins are in good shape, rear fender has a surface "scuff" about 2 inches long and 1/16 wide that could can be buffed out.

I'm a copart member and have purchased from them before, just keep in mind there will be about $500 in fees at that price and goes up every as the price goes up

Yeah everyone has there hands out when it comes to that stuff....bought my 04 silver bike with about the same damage...harley fell on it inside a enclosed trailer...insurance going to total it...exhaust, blinker housing, headlight , foot peg , chipped paint here and there and a dent in the tank...i told the guy see what insurance give you for it and sent me a message and i matched what insurance said just so it wouldnt have a salvage title....i spent around 300 on it out of pocket cause i had most of all the parts....i didnt repaint it i ride it

Riding another 90 miles after a wreck that totalled it ? Have you posted that story ?

Gotta hear that.........

Just saw another K9 listed. https://www.copart.com/lot/53820649 - bid is only $25 for this one at the Texas facility.

Looks pretty rough though. I would really hate to hear the story on that one.........front end is totally destroyed.........

Well what an insurance company considers totalled vs what is still ridable/fixable are drastically different things.

When my first K-9 was totalled I'd would have tried to ride it home but the read fender was gone and the seat wouldn't stay in place -- other than that it would have made it just fine. Well no tail lights either but hey that's why we use hand signals.

Going around a curve in southern IN and hit an area of "hedge apples" (pic below) in the road and the front tire slid out... Bike at 13 years old with 33K miles was pretty easy for the insurance company to total it. Was able to negotiate their initial offer. Had some road rash on my face, hands, knees, a few stiches, pulled hamstring and new bruises appearing daily for a couple weeks.

My K9 started out at a $30.00 bid; however, that was prior to a "Future Sale Date" being established as described below:

Damnit man that skinned you up pretty dang good....could've been worse tho....we have hedge apple trees here also...ive seen those wreck a car here once cause they where in a curve on a gravel road

UPDATE....
In my original post above, I mentioned no reserve since that what was listed under "Sales Status" as "Pure Sale" in the Bid Information section. The screen shot below from this morning says "Seller Reserve Not Yet Met" defined as: "Seller has placed a reserve price on the lot. If the minimum bid is not surpassed during the live auction, Seller has until 6 p.m. (Pacific Time) on the next business day following the day of the auction to accept the bid."
