Hey whanau.! (family) question? Should I use compression release valves every start? Bike starts fine I use them for cold starts sometimes. I've herd some guys use them every start, will this put less strain on battery and starter? Ka pai. Thanks.

I dont know what model you have but it should have automatic releases...my automatic releses on one of my bikes doesnt work so with that being said i push in on my rear cylinder release to help it when the bike is cold but once its warmed up i dont use them for the rest of that day... but yes it will help save on the battery and starter to give the motor some cylinder pressure relief

if it's in the middle of the rocker cover, it is electric/automatic. they will need to be replaced when they go bad, but you will be able to tell when.

to assist with cold weather starting should i push those bubbles in and let them automatically pop out?

they should work automatically, you can feel them dropping down when pushing start. put your finger on top of one and try.

Just so I'm clear open=pushed in and closed=popped out.
So on really cold days it could help my starting if I were able to somehow (likely with a buddy) push both bubbles in and hold them pushed in until the motor turns over?

Holding one open may be enough. I have to do this on my bike once in a while if it sits too long. If you have a buddy to hold both open, I'm sure it would be even better. I started a thread on this subject a few months ago. I'll post the link.

just out of habit, for quite a while, I push both C/Rs in before I try to crank. just in case there might be a little carbon build-up that would cause a problem. won't hurt anything.
