2005 Chopper DT strut replacenent no longer a fun project

And the issue I have is that it doesn't need to be this way.
Two bolts on each side and one harness and the rear fender and struts are off.
6 bolts on the inside of the fender and two bolts holding the tail lights together and everything's completely apart, this may have taken 10 minutes max.
But the wizard that designed the new strut to accommodate the sissy bar didn't place a relief area for the tail light harness!
Problem is you can't wire the harness through because the connector block won't fit through the hole in the tail light >:-(
Is my only option to repin the connector? That's never ended well, is there another way?

Get a little needle or pick and push the top tabs down (gently) and the wires will slide out of the connector body. Take a pic so you know where they go back in. And I mean gentle. The tab is very small.

Plastic tooth pick or a regular tooth pick will work also...just cut the point off of it where it more blunt...just one of my cheap tricks
