Only solution I'd found for flathead engine screws

These wide flathead screws require a wide tip but a handheld screwdriver with a wide 3/8" tip has a long handle that doesn't fit within the confines.
The longer screwdrivers, even if you cut them down, have either a round shaft or a square shaft so neither could accept a socket.

This kit contains a stubby 3/8" tip flathead but it's on backorder:

In the interim you can find a 3/8" flathead bit at Autozone and use an 8mm wrench to turn it.

What size drive fits in the other side of the Pronto PRO5444A? is it a 3/8" drive or a 1/2" drive?

Mine is a 1/2 drive.

A piece of flat steel, and an adjustable wrench works fine. You can also get those plugs with a hex head nut, and chrome plated.

I ordered the part from Walmart, thanks for the recommendation.
Since it only comes in a 1/2" drive and I'd rather not carry another ratchet handle (or a 3/8" to 1/2" adapter which adds more height/bulk) in my backpack, does anyone know of a 3/8" to 1/2" elbow?
