Did you happen to ask what they wanted to buy it back? Some guys here might be in the market for a parts bike before it goes to auction! So you could buy it back and sell it to a member save some hassle for someone on an auction.
I'm guessing the engine runs?

Yes I still think the motor is good. It some how shut it's self off when it fell over. I don't think I did it. But then again it happened so fast I might have. The trans is locked though. The shift linkage just moves freely back and forth. Clutch lever pulls in but bike still in gear. I did ask about buying it. He never gave me a price but said I would have to get a salvage title first? Not sure what was all involved to do this. I was focusing on buying another BD so I didn't ask to much about it. And this time around I bought a DOT approved half helmet. I was wearing one of those novelty helmets. The one I bought is super light weight. Fits pretty much like the other one. Cant tell its on and no mushroom head!

Well interesting it stays in gear with the clutch, obviously trans is shot and who knows might need a little or a lot of parts.
If you care and wanted to see if the engine works you could put the bike on a lift and have the rear tire up and see if it starts. Will be harder to start in gear but it should still start. Just make sure it's strapped down and nothing is in the way of the rear tire.
Understood why you didn't ask, you would have to get a salvage title, but not before you buy it. Just before you put it back on the road.
I'm not sure anyone is interested anyways unless they want it just to get some parts or need an engine. I don't need any parts or engines already got two! Haha
They are picking it up on Monday though? I might know someone who is interested if the engine works and can get it for cheap, just timing would be short and stinks. If the motor runs I think someone would pay about $2k if you could get it for that. Frame isn't worth anything with a salvage and who knows if it's straight. Also I'm sure fenders and tank are scrapped up. So only usable Bolt on part is pretty much the engine

The buy back when mine was totalled was insane -- it was very close to what they were giving me for the bike. And my frame was likely still straight at that point as she only got onto the swingarm. I wished I could have kept it -- would love to have a extra tank for an efi that I could expand to more capacity!
Man, just read through this thread, this is scary to say the least. I am so glad you are ok, and sounds like you are doing ok with getting the insurance money. Your new BD looks great, the 1000 miles is low for an 07 but then again is the bike was taken out for a few small rides everything shouls be ok.
