Cheap way to lighten your clutch

If you have a stiff clutch or just want it super easy there is a cheaper solution than buying the Big Dog easy clutch kit. Just order the inner and outer ball ramps from an 08 model for about $35.00 and fit them.

I just got mine and fitted them - it makes a huge difference, the clutch is so light and easy now.

If you are interested the part numbers I got were 102-000035-00 and 102-000036-00

My hand was jacked up trying to get through traffic at the ROT Rally last weekend.

Can you do a "how-to"?

My pic was just a reference from an HD site. Edited post so as not to confuse those who work on these things. While you are wrenching... I'm surfing for the end of the internet.

I could realy use less pull cause my 2 shimmed banditt clutch is a HEAVY pull[/QUOTE]

Gas, I have the Bandit clutch in mine and, like yours it was still pretty heavy, but fitting these new ball ramps really made a huge difference, for some reason getting the clutch adjusted just right also seemed easier after fitting them. Its probably the best cheap mod i have done to the bike.

The ball ramp change was incorporated in conjunction with the 9 plate clutch.
If you just change the ramp without changing the clutch you won't get enough separation of your clutch plates and you'll end up with a clutch
dragging problem(hard shifting and hard to find neutral).

gee when I said my heavy sprung stock clutch was too hard to pull all I got was "you need to lube your cable". GAS, I had to put all the shims in my bandit and it still pulls nicer than my stock did, also dont be misled into thinking a muller will work it is totaly different, you would need a different cable and a 2 piece push rod. the clutch needs to move .070

You may be right Dogvet, I cant confirm that as mine has the Bandit clutch but it was working fine with the old ball ramps and it works with the new ball ramps, in fact the separation seems to better with the new ramps.

The difference in clutch pull is huge so if anyone has a heavy clutch it may be worth the small investment to see if it works, if it doesn’t you have only wasted a few bucks and a little.

DV, what is included in the 08 soft pull clutch kit from BDM? I know you get a different set of ramps but what else do they include to make it all work correct? This is curiousity question. I really have no major issue with the pull tension of my stock 07 clutch.

C'mon ladies, you will get used to the extra tension. I have had my pirahana clutch with the #80 springs for only two weeks and it is getting to be un noticable.

What did you mean by "fitted them", did you just replace the existing ball ramp setup or is some machining to the cover needed? thanks and great idea!
