Can't get my hydraulic clutch adjusted!

Last week I put a new clutch pack in my Ultima open primary. Up to this point it was running fine. I run an HHI hydraulic clutch with a pro-one actuator. Since I put in the new clutch pack, I cannot get the clutch adjusted. It creeps when stopped in gear with the clutch in, but slips when cruising down the highway in 6th gear. I've tried adjusting it every which way, bled the lines, etc. For some stupid reason I didn't order new springs, but I will this week. The old clutch was working fine, it was just beat and I knew it needed replacing soon. Any ideas?

How much thicker is the new pack from the used (old one)? They may have made the new one thicker than the old one ever was even when new (inconsistent production?) I would try removing one disc and spacer and try it???

That's a good idea BB. What I was gonna try is to take out the first "thick" steel plate, and replace it with one of the old, thin plates. Any downside to this? That first plate is just a spacer right?

Thats what I would try, I have mis matched old and new before with no issues!

I'm running a hydraulic clutch also - don't laugh, but make sure that puppy does not have any air in the system. I had a similar issue and got one of those hand pump units to bleed... took care of the problem. The air must have been way back in the lines because I went through 2 full resivors before the air came completely out...

Having the same issue and very difficult to shift especially into neutral. Just bled it and it didn’t do any good. Any other ideas? 2008 American Ironhorse Texas Chopper.

Also, is it possible that I didn’t put enough brake fluid in?

I’m certainly no mechanic. Not even sure what you mean...

Here is a snapshot of the procedure to adjust your clutch, the 2005 AIH maintenance manual is in my dropbox, link to it is in my signature line.
And by the way, yes, you do have a Roadmax transmission

Reference material for American Ironhorse is pretty tough to come by, I have a decent CD-rom from AIH which I will add to my dropbox at some point when I can remember to do so..
How would I go about accessing that? It would be like striking gold!!!

Also, I compressed the clutch lever and the bolt popped out now won’t go back in...

Alright, so by pulling the clutch lever you added hydraulic pressure, you'll have to bleed it down , then proceed with putting the clutch rod back in and do your adjustment. Rod goes in until there is very slight pressure and back it off 1/16 of a turn and lock it with the jam nut. Then refill your clutch master cylinder with dot 5 as recommended by AIH. Shoot me a text or give me a call if you're stuck. (905) 379-2522
