Do you think fuel gas will run out as soon as predicted and would you spend $ on a gas engine?

Sorry it doesn't work that way. I work for the "automakers", we will make whatever people would buy. Reality is not many people (5%-10%) are interested when fuel prices are low. We are not in bed with big oil, quite the opposite.

The other big factor is the government regulations. They are penalizing us to death over carbon emissions, and its only getting worse. China and Europe even more so.

Its happening its only a matter of how fast.

I’ve been in the automotive industry my whole life and two generations before me I also worked for the worlds largest retailer and if you don’t believe that big oil and all automotive related products aren’t in bed together then I got some ocean front property in Arkansas I’ll sell you cheap.

All I know is that I bought a BMW i3 electric only and it is the most amazing vehicle I have owned since my first car a 56 Chevy. No warming up, no heat, no fuel, oil or water. Barely use the brakes. Torque in excess and a blast to drive. My next vehicle will be electric. Not because of anything related to environmental, but for financial, practical and maintenance reasons.

It's hard to believe we are even talking about this. What's next? The Sun will burnout, there will be no electricity (there isn't in some parts of the world), or maybe there won't be anymore batteries made! At least there will always be T&A for us to look at.

Oh, I forgot....they said natural gas would be gone in a decade or two when I was in high school in the 70's!

Looking forward to retirement
We’re sitting on the largest natural gas strike in North America. The Haynesville Shale. They have been drilling in it since 2008. That’s the upper located approximately 14,000 - 15,500, the bigger pocket is the Haynesville Lower located 17,000 - 18,000.

Oil will last for longer time.
Don't know but next 20 to fifty years in my thought.
Alternative will be the synthetic fuel. They are in Moment more expensive than ours.Future will change. Plastic waste can get transformed back to fuel. There are more than one way for our actual engines as well as earth gas and propane butane build ones. Liquid gas takes normal gas fuels till 40 degrees Celsius.
Temperature is needed for transforming liquid to gas.
In my thought the electrical base is not the future. Rare earth metals will end too.
Water stuff will work better and be greener than the electric way.
We will see what the future brings.
Save ur 20 K or use for a better investion.

Internet yes. However there are multiple reports from reputable sites and the electric vehicle trend is visible
You're right, electric cars are visible especially in California where you can find a charging station. But, unless it's free electricity, it's not worth it. Consider this......converting fossil fuel to electric energy at a utility is usually 35% efficient with 65% being dumped into the environment as heat. There are Natural Gas turbines that can produce 50% of the energy in to electricity. Does it really make sense to do this?

Don't get me wrong....I would love to have a Tesla but driving 90 miles to the charging station in Baton Rouge and back to the house is insane to charge my electric vehicle. What I'm saying is that I would have to drive so far to get a charge for the work week only to get back to the house and say honey "I have to go and charge my car again".

Range anxiety is real for the drivers too. Let's say I plan to drive to Lake Tahoe from the Bay Area. It gets cold outside or even snows. Before you know it....it's like watching you cell phone battery die. The car protects itself by cutting off items such as the passenger heater. Now, you're cold and your car is about to die and maybe even lock you in the car because there isn't enough battery power to unlock the doors.

I could charge the car at the house but it's going to cost me in higher electric bills unless my electricity is free!

So, yes the electric vehicle trend is visible in certain states more than others but they aren't viable. Especially, when you have to change your battery at about the 7 year point for a large chunk of change.

Did you know Elon Musk really doesn't want to even be in the Electric Car business and would get out if he could. He's a Rocket Man. That's what he really wants. So, get on the signup sheet early for going to Mars where you don't have to worry about the internet info, gasoline, etc. Hope they have a Whole Foods store there even though I don't shop there either.

But when interviewed he admitted he won't fly on one of his own rockets nor sign up for Mars 'cause he wants to be around for his family. That captain won't sail on his own ship.

I did see this though.

Interesting....and I thought Tesla built their battery plant in Nevada because of California politics. It does take thousands of lithium batteries for each car. So, is it really viable.

Let's say it is viable. I remember when Nuclear was the answer to producing electricity. It was going to be so cheap that it wasn't even worth monitoring. Then, politics got involved and the Government backed out of all their promises which meant plants sat unfinished, scrapped, or not even built.

Not to mention some nuke plants are set to be decommissioned because natural gas generated electricity is cheaper & safer.

If you want to ruin a good idea...just let the Government run it...lol

Ive worked alot of nuclear sites....people knew how dangerous they are would have never allowed them to think about the whole idea...the smallest nuc will whip out 500 square miles completely leveled nothing left...then 1500 square miles of destruction of inhabitable land....nucs was never i good thing or idea...i will NEVER work another nuc the rest of my life

Are you talking about Nuclear bombs? What's dangerous about Nuclear Plants that people know except how to dispose of the irradiated fuel bundles? Sorry to hear you think Nuclear Generating Plants are not your cup of tea if that's what you are referring to.

They r really dangerous... one has a reactor leak and can blow...u can have a nuclear reactor melt down then it releases radioactive material in the air....it is invisisble and undetechable by human nose and senses....nuclear is a thing of the past there are way better ways for power....wind mills and solar...well for instance look at the one in japan in 2011 that had a leak and it was detected on the west coast....all they r good for is for terrorist attacks...u melt down a reactor and life changes as u know it...plus they have no where to store the radioactive waste...it will get in ur water and can get into everything....make life inhabitable for years in those areas for thousnads of miles
