Changing to a longer kick stand.

Has anyone changed their Kick stand to the one inch longer stand?

The original stand has a spacer behind it. The longer stand comes with shorter screws I assume not to use with a spacer. Is it just personal preference if you want to use the spacer and use the original longer screws ?
or is the longer stand made not to use with a spacer?

Also the service manual calls for Loctite 2760 which is red high strength. Really?

One of the old ones.
The stand on my previous K9 got worn and was allowing too much lean, so I got a longer one from Shovelheadkicker. Good idea. I have one on my ‘new to me’ 08 K9 and wouldn’t go back to OEM. In fact I have a short one stored away somewhere and doubt it will ever find use....there are some threads with feedback about the longer kickstands and most are very pleased with the longer ones.
I bought a wedge shaped kickstand spacer and liked it too. It was fatter on top than the bottom and helped hold the bike straighter. I seem to recall the original spacer was uniformly flat.
You can use your old screws if you prefer.
Generally you’ll use red for steel to steel and blue for aluminum.

I had to use a torch concentrated on the screw head to get my kickstand off! Had to be damn careful but the red loctite was a mother, I was rounding out the Allen keys! I got rid of the spacer and added a custom inspection sticker bracket in its place! Kept stock kickstand but the longer stand would be nice if I’d thought about it while I had it off!! We decided to use blue Loctite when reinstalling the kickstand. As for the screw length, check to be sure if you use the longer ones without the spacer they won’t hit anything on the back.

I also got the 1 inch longer kickstand from Shovelheadkicker.
I put it on my 09 Ridgeback and I used the Original spacer. I also used The new screws and Nylock nuts that came with it. I used blue Loctite on them and tightened them down and they were long enough to extended about a 16th of an inch past the end of the nylock nuts. I love the longer kickstand it definitely makes the bike sit up more level. It’s also great when you’re getting fuel you can definitely get more in the tank without having to sit on the bike and hold it up straight. Now granted I still don’t fill it to the brim even if I could I wouldn’t but I definitely get more gas in it And when I park on a hill with the kickstand side on the downhill side it’s not quite as scary warring of the bikes going to tip over.

That tab is a brilliant idea! I got the longer stand last year and it’s already wollered out a bit but does help the stance and of the bike when parked
