Big Dogs loaded to the gills handle incredibly well on long trips. Many owners do it.
I was surprised a bit about the dry weight as I doubt there is an added 300+ lbs but that is also a commercial scale that is supposed to be accurate within 100 lbs.
Dude -- trust me -- been there -- done that -- got the T-shirt.
I mounted removable hard saddlebags, cross country bag, roll bag, Large (16") handlebar bag, 2 full tool bags, my 300lb self and a passenger on one year and headed for Tail of the Dragon!
All that, bag on ground me and passenger!
It passed the limit! Had strut bolt fail on that trip -- but that's another long story.
