Changing the colour of the flames using airbrush

Everytime I've painted a vehicle, I've painted the whole component, no design, using a sprayer so pretty basic.
I know nothing about airbrushing.
I'm looking at a BDM but would want to change the colour of the flames.
Is this an application for an airbrush artist?
Would the components have to be removed or could this be done on-site, bike intact?
Just not sure how involved this would be, any insight would be helpful, thanks.

First, yes the tins will have to be removed.
As far as color change, the options are limitless. If you like the design, it can be as simple as shooting a candy color over it. Example would be like Deep Sea Paul's Ridge. It was probably painted black and white and or silver. It is red because it has a candy over it.
If you have a picture, we can give you more examples.

so my situation *should* be way simpler.
i like the base colour (white) and I like the design (flames).
i don't want the flames to be red I want the flames to be black.
but if it's going to cost over $1k to do it then I'll keep looking

I think it will be hard to find someone who would do that for under a grand at least quality with the amount of time for prep and paint . You might be able to find it for just a little over a grand.

That shouldn't be to hard, to tape over them and repaint the flames. I'd use some dark chameleon colors though.

Just wetsand your factory clear, tape off your flames with fineline tape, airbrush, untape, reclear, cut & buff, reassemble.
Simple.

I guess DeepSea proved wrong the theory that he enhanced an existing paint scheme ?

I would have guessed the same thing seeing the before (which I like) and after (which seems similar but better).

Cutting Edge Illusions did the work ? Their web site has some very impressive projects.
