Sound advice. Thank you. DogfishGo to a Harley shop and get their battery. They are designed for the vibration, and will hold up on these bikes. If you go with a cheap battery, and it shorts out, it will burn your EHC up.
Yes, my nearby HD shop has that same bad attitude.I bought a Deka on Amazon bc I don't like the way they treat me at the Harley shops as soon as they find out I don't have a Harley.
I have owned two Harleys and I was never that way towards anyone else on a different kind of bike. I just don't understand it and I am pretty sure Deka is the brand Harley sells.Yes, my nearby HD shop has that same bad attitude.

I'm a firm believer in proactive maintenance.Go to your local HD dealer and buy a battery, keep it on a tender no matter what electrical system you have and you’ll get years of use from it. Don’t bother with high prices or even low cost batteries, the HD battery is tried and proven and just like every other aspect of the motorcycles maintenance is the key to success.
Harley ETX20L - # 65989-97CSo skip all the I’ve got a big dog and need a battery bullshit at the Harley dealer and just ask for The battery by part number... Anyone got one off their HD battery?
I disagree.Go to a Harley shop and get their battery. They are designed for the vibration, and will hold up on these bikes. If you go with a cheap battery, and it shorts out, it will burn your EHC up.
^^yep!Deka,Harley, Batteries plus etc..all the same battery. Pick one with a good warranty
Yes, I agree with that for the most part. Deka does make the battery. Most any battery made by Deka should be fine. I've just found stopping by the Harley shop is the fastest and easiest to get one.I disagree.
Harley does not make batteries. Harley primarily uses Deka Batteries. You can get them under dozens of names. Just look for made by Penn manufacturing on the back label. You will pay a lot more for the Harley sticker on it.
Furthermore, there is nothing all that special about them. Just about any AGM over 300cca will do fine.
