In need of a set of loud, nasty pipes for an 05 Chopper. NO VANCE AND HINES BIG RADIUS

Honestly a set of decent pipes has always been in the $800-900 range so these are not that far off.

My FSD pipes cost me about $800 and that was 5-6 years ago.

Even if you go 10+ years back when there was all kinds of shops making them still 700-800, like the Martin Brothers

I did not think about it that way. I paid $700 for my V&H big radius in 2006.

The second one is the same one as I posed above without the ugly wrap
Hey brother, I been meaning to mention to you I found these online I have absolutely zero personal experience with them but you should try them on your pipes they look pretty cool in the brushed/ black. DEI is also the industry leader for wrap tech.

They make a few different lengths, while it's not the complete answer it might help mask some of the bluing and yellowing. Also, keep you from ending up melting some jeans or leather potentially. I'm thinking the 8" in the front pipe and maybe 6" on the back? Back is gonna be the tough one. It says it's "semi flexible" so it may work on the back pipe too with the two angle changes.

Cheaper on eBay or elsewhere than JP but you get the idea. They also make a black/black and could look good on your bike.

Would be great if someone tries them! HINT**HINT haha

I reached out to the guys on Facebook and here is what I came up with I hope this helps in getting an exhaust

Photo number 1 red mastiff. Paul yaffee phantom for right side drive available on eBay for $900-$1050

Photo 2 black K9 Eddie Trotta D3, with heat shields $995 plus shipping(call for availability) this set was purchased new and installed within the last 2 weeks. The owner of the bike said he had 2 paul yaffee phantoms on 2 different bikes and loved the pipe, sold his phantom for $650 to a big dog rider in Sweden.

Photo 3 blue K9 FSD sinful, these were purchased slightly used and no longer available.

Thanks Eric.

Ill give that some thought. I do have a lot of black on my bike, but I have tried to keep the engine trans area chrome/polished for continuity.

I have even considered buying a second set of this pipe, because I do like them, then cutting them up to make heat shields.

I got some time before riding season to figure something out

You should look into jp cycles or drag specialties they offer generic chrome heat shields for exhaust. May be something to look into

FSD's are beautiful. They seem to have various lengths in the galleries. Shorter tips seem like they'd be less likely to drag. FSD web site is still there, but shows "out of stock".

I haven't seen the D3 pipes before, but I like them too. Eddie Trotta's web site does not list any exhaust parts. Did the ever sell them direct ?

Is V&H the only company still making cool-looking pipes for RHD big twins ?

Those will not fit RSD 300 tire but will 250 tire, paul yaffee phantom is made by supertrapp, the LAF pipes are junk but if you get those best option is to buy a half wrapped set
Curious, how do we know? Someone actually try?

My neighbor and good friend put a set of LAF exhaust pipes on his Texas chopper they turned blue about 1/2-3/4 of the way down both pipes the very first time he ran it and looked terrible due to lack of heat shields. They are very cheaply made as well.

Same thing happened to a friend of mine, I think he had them on the bike for two days, then couldn't even give them away.. :moped:
