I double checked the threads and yes, they are metric. As it looks, all the threads on the forks are metric. Go figure.

I just been down that road. one of the pinch bolts snapped off when I was trying to back it out. damn---pulled the tube off and very carefully centered a left twist bit to attempt to drill it out. the left twist bit didn't do it so I had to use an extractor. I set the drill on a very light impact which chattered the rest of the bolt loose and right out. I hate breaking a bolt or screw off---ruins the whole day.
I purchased grade 8 replacements which came from lowes. I also replenished my left twist bits from an outfit called "drill hog-usa" (I am very pleased with their product)
i am getting an order together for back bearings, a spare starter and other stuff form wildseedworx. want to have dog on the road when the blue birds sing.

OK, listen up. I've triple checked the bolt size, and it is smaller than a 1/4'' bolt. So it is a 6mm x 1.25mm, BUT I went down to the local bolt store, (30 miles away), and they didn't have that size. So I got on the internet, on the Mc Master-Carr site. They have everything, but no 6mm x 1.25 bolts. So back to my shop for research.
1/4'' = .250
6mm = .238
.012 or .006 per-side of bolt in nothing.
20 t.p.i. = 1.25mm, or so close you can't see it.

So what I'm saying is a 1/4'' - 20 bolt will work just fine.

Here's a die to make M6x1.25 threads. https://drillsandcutters.com/m6-x-1-25-carbon-steel-hex-die/

What length are these bolts?
I might just order the right die and some M6x1 partially thread bolts and cut off the ends and cut the proper threads.

They are listed as 1/4-20 by 1" in the manual.
Maybe I'll clean the threads with the proper tap.

I've got one broken on my dog right now that I need to drill out and figured when I pull the tranny its time to take care of that too.

You have to be careful with the pinch bolts.
The vast majority of the BD forks we have worked with have 1/4-20 x 1.
We have only come across a few that had the metric bolts.

With the threads being so close maybe the threads in the fork are actually metric but BD was using 1/4-20.

Looking at the 20 pitch gauge and the 1.25 gauge here the 20 gauge fits far better than the 1.25.
Plus I checked several forks here and they all check out with my "Go-No-Go" 1/4-20 gauge but the 6 x 1.25 does not like the hole.

6x1.25 is such an odd non-standard metric size, I can find taps and dies for them but can find anyone that has the bolts!
Hopefully mine will be 1/4-20 when I open it up.

I snapped one torqueing it to the 12 foot pounds as noted in the manual. Obviously stretched and constructed from soft material. Replaced both on the K9 and Mastiff with Grade 8. Also went with a dab of anti seize as galvanic corrosion was a consideration for me. I also had considered using stainless but decided that should for some God awful chance one broke again, I didn't want to drill out that hard of a fastener.
