"Compliments"

Occasionally I will drop into HD forums and read a little bit. There is a topic that says "Ever get tired of getting compliments". Being an owner of a Harley as well as a Big Dog, I don't think they have any real idea of what it's actually like to get "complements" on a motorcycle, and only those who have owned both can truly shed clarity on that subject. I just got one word to say, that when you're a Big Dog owner, it's

True that -- Hell I get people coming up to me and my K-9 all the time when I'm on the road saying how nice it is, etc. I can only imagine what you guys that clean your bikes get!

Although my harley did get a lot of looks but then again I bought it in 04 and it was slightly raked XLCH with an interesting paint scheme (that I never did get around to changing before I sold it.) Got as many looks from old school bikers as any body else. Had one grey beard look at me at a bike night at Hooter and comment, "Damn that's about the only real bike here!" Trophy went to the OCC bike who's trailer was 3 blocks away -- Dude was in shorts, Hawaiin shirt and flip flops!

So True - but we are not immune from it here. I did a meet up with forum members a while back and one guy was actually wearing dockers boat shoes. I left the group early and hooked up with some patchers.

It is hard to stay Humble at times when riding a Big Dog, like all of the above, from pictures going down the freeway, to everyone gathering around your bike every time we stop. But one of the best one's was when a women came over to my wife and said that is a Beautiful motorcycle and that she thought my wife was the luckiest women in the world, to be riding such a motorcycle and all the vibration would make her Orgasm all day. we didn't know what to say

Well......my story is this. I'm cruising up the road at 50mph. I can sense that there is a car next to me but out of my view. I would speed up the car would do the same. So I finally looked over to see what the hell is going on, and this person is taking a video of me! I just smiled and kept cruising.

My experience is about the same as everyone elses, cant pull in a gas station without at least one person coming over to talk about the K9. I find it interesting that these bikes are no longer the popular thing but everyone still loves them?? :chopper:

RETIRED
I haven’t had a chance to really ride my ridgeback yet but I’m sure the compliments will be overwhelming I just wish it were solid black and not the red that it is, there are way too many red harleys out there, but I bought the bike used and I’m really happy with it.

You can always do a complete tear down to the frame and go back black. Or, look around and you just might find someone interested a red one. Or you can keep it and do some type of theme like maybe ac/dc or something:)
