The bike was running great up to this fluid change

Guys - I changed my tranny fluids last week (using Red Line V-Twin synthetic) and since then, when starting out or leaving a stop lite, it is very difficult to shift from first to 2nd and from 2nd to 3rd. Doesn't seem to be an issue on the upper gears.
I only rode about 5 miles then came back and check the tranny fluid level. It was low, (did not screw the stem in, just dropped in as directed) but still showed on the stick. I don't think it should have caused this type of problem. I've since topped off the fluid with less than a 1/2 pint. Problem remains.

Seems to shift easier, if when stopping I shift down and stop on a slight engine compression. Not the way I usually stop. It then shift into first without the same, lockup type problem.

The bike was running great up to this fluid change.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks
