Rubber in the rim

Have been noticing over the past few rides that I’ve been getting rubber build up around the inside rim of the rear tire. It happened while it was just me on it, but more so with the gf on the back. Never had that problem before. I can’t see and didn’t feel and rubbing on the tire/fender while we were on it. Could it be just adjusting the shocks? Any other spots the rubber could be coming from?

… like others said check belt alignment and tension;
also do you ever roll the bike backwards? and with 2 up backwards, even 3 feet? this can cause the belt to rub against the side of the tire. (and belt could be going bad?)

Tires are actually not the width that the manufacturer says it is (ex 300 is actually 310mm). Ck the very edges of yr rear tire. I have 70,500 miles on my bike and I get dust particles and I believe its from the brakes.

Although a bit remote, check for...
any sideways movement or wiggle from worn or loose rear wheel bearings, swing arm pivot bushings...
best if checked with bike on a lift, gently but very firmly wiggle/pry rear wheel side to side and up and down, spin the wheel forward and backward to notice if belt starts to rub on things...

One of the old ones.
First take compressed air and blow out your rear caliper and wipe off the rear wheel. Then go ride around for 15-20 minutes and only use your front brakes. Then inspect.
With respect, I suggest the only stuff that would wind up on that side of the rim concentrating towards the middle would be brake dust.
If this is wrong, at least you can rule out brake dust.

Look at every tooth on the belt. Look at the sides of the belt. Centrifugal force flings out so it couldn't be a tire rub under the fender say. But the belt being inside the rim... buaddaboom buddabing

How close am I short of air turbulence from the fender rub sucking into the rim.

Agreed but the problem is, it mainly on the brake side.

I could tell you in 2 seconds I fondle the WM.
Race rubber = Balls up. No matter the spec cooked onto the rim ~ Spongy to the finger compression.
Brake dust = Peppers the rim. Rubs the dust into the pores of the fingers ~ Ass if you wiped your butt and requires another wipe pee.

Cheers for the replies so far. Its definitely not brake dust. They are clean as a whistle. Id sprayed them with brake clean before the ride and they were still clean after. Its definitely rubber. Hopefully get it up on the lift/jack and have a more thorougher look under the fender. The blet appears to be in good condition, it has the same slight clearance from the wheel its always had (the edge of the tire rubber is still sharp on the belt side). It did it a, little with just myself, but more with a pillion on the back, which leads me to believe its tire/fender contact. This has only started recently, which also leads me to think its something wearing out or failing. Hopefully its simple.

So could that lead me onto the possibility of the shocks starting to fail?

Does the tention on the belt change much with two up vs one? Ie the angle and distance between the two sprockets with no load vs two up? As it seems ive also developed a trans oil leak on the drive side, I think at the shaft seal.....Belt tension?

Just when I think Ive gotten on top of all the problems on this bike (had it for 7yrs and has always been something)....
