Hi guys , my 05 chopper has a noise that happens when clutch lever is pulled in. took it to my mechanic and bro and we both agreed it sounded like it was the throwout bearing. Ordered one up put it in myself buttoned up the dog. To my surprise even got the clutch adjustment right on the money with no further adjustments after fireing it up. But the so called throwout bearing noise is still there. Does anyone know what else it could be? Sitting at an idle in neutral and pull clutch in you hear it just like throwout bearing is going bad. thanks for any suggestions. I live 25 miles from Sturgis and would really like to have the dog running before then HELP!!!

Have you inspected and greased the push rod?

Paul.
In 2005 some of these were not machined properly, too big and burned the surface and could be the noise. That was the case with mine.

What transmission oil are you using?

This may sound crazy but check your top motor mount . I had the same sound and that’s what it was.
Not crazy at all ! We had the same noise on kid brothers K 9, sounded like a bird chirping. Called the person that I was sure would have the cure, ( MrWright, Shannon) , Yep, Top motor mount needed tightened. Worth checking out !

had a noise on my K9 sitting on the stand, nothing...lean the bike to the right just off center and have that noise.. finally determined a bearing in the tranny. had it rebuilt and no more noise.

Alex, I'll take post #7 'you've got nothing to lose' for $200... Start the bike, lean left to quiet noise, lean right to hear noise, and/or vice-verse.
