What's the longest ride you've taken on your hardtail/rigid?

30 minute commute to work has been no problem for me, in fact I enjoy the visceral feel. (roads here are kinda crappy though)
Everyone's telling me it's a barhopper only.
What's the longest ride you've taken on a rigid frame (no suspension)?

Rode 387 miles on the Pit Bull last year at the anniversary get- together in Kansas. ( honest, we weren't really "lost", we were out "in search of America". Okay, maybe just a little bit lost,,, but we made it back the same night!! ) It was a good ride. and I'd do it again in a heartbeat !!

So this basically confirms my thinking that a hardtail is certainly doable for longer trips.

On a bumpy road, when I scoot up just a couple inches on the seat (closer to the fork that has flex in it and farther from the rear wheel with no flex) I feel the bumps less. However for a passenger, they're still above the rear wheel.

So the question now becomes:
"What's the longest ride you've taken a passenger on your hardtail/rigid?"

Not far! My Pit is just not made for a passenger. I had a gal on back and took a low speed bump @ about 20....good thing the sissy bar was there to catch her! She was completely off the bike...
Ive seen Ridgebacks with riders on long runs.....i think the stretched frame helps a lot?

The guy at Outlaw cycles says the stretched out frame actually flexes somewhat providing a tad of absorption which is why he prefers to sell Ridgebacks and AIHs for hardtails

A hardtail on the concrete highways here In the south is a massive beating, it's like riding a horse so bring a saddle. I stay off them typically because of that. I just rode about 80-90 miles on the highway before doing another 250 on back roads up to KS and that was too many concrete highway miles. The northern blacktops are smoother, mileage may vary depends on where you live.

Took my girlfriend on a couple of 300 mile rides and we both had a case of numb ass but I can't say it was any worse than riding my Heritage Softail the same distance.

05 Ridgeback, 240+ miles down to FL then two days later the same 240+ miles on the way back. It’s doable for sure but as Eric said, some of the roads here in the South can beat you. I stick to the smoother back roads in my area. And I’m happy to do longer rides.

I do not ride passengers with me. I taught my wife how to ride a bike. So we both ride our own bikes solo.
