My PDM bit the dust from a bad voltage regulator. Thankfully that thing is no more!I still have the PDM and your right, its a rats nest....but for now its still working
When I bought the PDM it was the only thing available besides the wire plus. I'll run it till it quits on meMy PDM bit the dust from a bad voltage regulator. Thankfully that thing is no more!

yep I had the wires Plus in the other bike that died about 7 years later. We are lucky to have the new units compared to those that's for sureWhen I bought the PDM it was the only thing available besides the wire plus. I'll run it till it quits on me
Yes, and I have Doug’s rats nest which I decided not to use, if anyone needs it, your welcome to have itI replaced my PDM with the fantastic unmentionable module, there was nothing wrong with the PDM other than the fact it looked horrible, damn rats nest of wires which drove me batty every time I took the side cover off. I replaced it because of the cleaner look as well as knowing I would be trouble free from then on..![]()
It is usually political or perceived cost reduction. I have been in Telecom since 97 and seen many outsourcing iterations. All in the name of saving money. It usually does not. A lot of times it comes down to "owning" control. I am sure at one time TH told BDM we will not do that. So they said oh yeah, we will do it ourselves.Rick is correct, I will never understand why Bigdog walked away from Thunderheart. These units are fantastic! On my 03 Chopper I finally had to replace mine 3 yrs ago.
My thoughts exactly!Bet this person and many more will take notice now.
13 years with my Mastiff and still no real issues and still find myself reading a post and looking at my ride to see if I can catch a potential issue before it becomes a problem. Thanks to all who post and help those of us less mechanically inclined.
Job well done!

Just replied to your pm, it’s not a ehc it’s a pdm.
Also recommend troubleshooting first, and having the ehc tested first before replacing. I would personally not recommend the pdm over the newer units available now.

100%, technology is continually advancing and improving. As Alan said when the PDM came out, it and WP were the only options...both of which are a massive ball of wiring and not as reliable as currently offered EHC replacements...Thanks Tapio… just re-lived the nightmare..

I hope my Wire Plus holds up for a long time.....It took me 10 hours to wire that baby up
I'm going to breakfast on the Dog this morning. I ride her at least once a week (My bike that is!)
