For non-fair-weather-riders, is one bike enough?

Hey like I told people in NJ before I moved -- you don't like my bike being that dirty -- You clean it!
Motorcycles are to RIDE not POLISH as far as I am concerned.

Shannon -- I'm on my second Big Dog and wouldn't have it any other way but by your standards I guess I shouldn't own one. Well, I'm keeping it and its likely to stay dirty! Look at it this way -- you ever park next to mine, your will look even better!
If I ever park next to you, I'll do what I did to Mastiff Dave's, and polish one handle bar control.

I try to keep my Big Dog looking good but I can't match the cleanliness of the best cleaners on this site. I do a decent job. At least enough to look pretty darn good. I shoot for keeping my polished aluminum looking close to chrome. I clean a bit every week since I ride many times during the week. I find doing a little bit at a time doesn't wear me out or discourge me.

Recently, I brought the dog in the house for a good polishing but ended up buying a D&M spike air intake from Paul. So, I only cleaned the front wheel, forks, handle bars. I just had to ride her. So her rear didn't get cleaned and engine didn't either even though I bought everything I needed to clean the Engine fins like Jonathan posted.

Oh, well

Me too ! I had four in the garage at on time. I sold two cause I didn’t ride the one and my 05 Mastiff I got an offer too good to refuse. I would still have it for eye candy otherwise.
I have run out of room for mine, needed to get indoor storage for four of them..

What these guys are trying to nicely tell you is, these bikes are not a Harley or BMW. These bike are like a fine woman. They like to be ridden hard, but you better spend some time with them afterwards. Not put her up wet and sloppy, and go in the house to sleep.
I've ridden in the rain many times, with no problem, but the clean up afterwards takes hours. If your going to treat her like a two bit whore, I'm going to say these are not your type of bike. Move on.
I tear down several bikes a year, that guys have bought from guys that treated their Dogs like crap. Mechanically their in good shape, they just look like a girl that smokes 3 packs of cigarettes a day for the last 20 years.
Don't buy a Dog, if your going to treat her like that. These are the finest custom- production bikes out there, and need to be treated with respect!

Every bike I have owned I have rode in freezing weather and in rain. The only part I can't bundle up enough for warmth down to the 30's are my hands and I bought some heated grips for that recently.

I have more than one bike because I'm a man and men like variety but also for different types of adventures. I got the V-Strom for overlanding, fire roads, camping trips and heading to the better parts of the trout stream.

Next I need a supermoto to make me giggle and remember what it's like to be a kid.
