Okay, when i bought the bike the guy went over a few of the mods.
Here is one i want to learn more about... (Extra Jet in Carb) Is it called a jet too?
In the pictures you will see an extra jet put in the carb.
It's right below the choke. In the one picture it is right above the S&S Super G casted in the carb.
The guy said it was for air...
I was wondering why this was done?
What does it help with?
Does anyone else have this done to their carb?
Thanks T-Mack (sorry pictures not great)

Its an external air bleed, had never seen one before but there is a article in the March 08 issue of American Iron Magazine showing this when upgrading a S&S carb that does not already have the replaceable air bleed installed. And I did stay at a Hoilday Inn Express last night:D

I thought he said that it sucked air in through there and that helped the gas to atomise more and quicker for better combustion?

Unlees thats something different the air bleed is adjusted to change the overlap in when the carb pulls from the intermediate jet to the main jet. Looking at this article it notes that" Zippers installs adjustable external air bleeds by drilling and tapping the flat area (where you jet is) and installing a Mikuni main jet" So it may be a Zippers modified carb?

Also from looking at your pics that does not look like any S&S jet i've ever seen. (Good pics)

The air bleed is installed to regulate the flow of atmospheric pressure inside the float bowl. More restriction makes it harder for the engine to suck the fuel out of the float bowl. Less restriction will allow the fuel to flow more freely into the engine. Basically it regulates fuel flow into the carb and out to the fuel circuits.

Zippers does indeed install their air bleed there. I'm not sure if they did the work or not though. They did a super G for me a few years back. Dogvet is correct in what it does, it lets you adjust the pressure in the bowl. What this actually does for you is allows you to adjust where in the rpm range your main jet starts to kick in. It helps to get rid of that flat spot normally around 3500 rpm give or take. You can run a larger intermediate jet to help your low end performance without making it too rich when the main starts to kick in. I think Zippers has instructions on their website on how to tune it.
