Eric, I feel for you buddy on the set back and disappointment . I know that's no fun to hear the opposite of what you have been expecting the outcome to be but there is a reason for you to be down alittle longer and it will make you heal better.

I don't really want to toot my own horn but you were close and kept up with all my adventures last year so let me be an example of how you ARE going to heal. This time last year I was in the exact frame of mind that you are in now and in my eyes the future looked bleak. I was still to beat up from the rollover and the 100 ft bluff jumping attempt to cast or pin and I had just got out of ICU from flatlining with sepsis shutting down my organs.I thought that I would never walk again and still faced the possibility of losing my leg.
At the time it seems to last forever but today I look back and it seems impossible that a whole 12 months has passed. With constant therapy and training I am able to do anything that I could before , maybe a little slower but at least I'm able to .
Eric , you are way younger than me and better shape so if I can do it , you can also but a whole lot faster and better. I know the kind of guy you are and this will just be a new challenge for you that you Will , overcome . I believe that you are going to be good as new before you know it.
Prayers sent .

Yes Eric hang in there. It's only a few more weeks. I know how it feels to be stuck in a bed. You will be fine in no time. Prayers and thoughts go out to you.

Well everyone I still have the hardware. All my pelvis is right where it should be and it looks great the surgeon said. I found out this is normally a 10-12 week process. He is worried about tendons apparently they take longer to heal and he can't see them with an X-ray. I just learned you can't do an MRI with metal so your just damn Stuck. If the tendons aren't healed he told me I might end up with 8 more weeks or a shorter leg.

Considering I've beaten all the timeframes and recovery, probably due to my young age and good health and workout programming I asked what's the soonest date so he's willing to pull it out in 9 weeks. So I'm still stick till February 5th now. Although he said I can sit in a wheelchair now but I still can't put weight on my legs so I'm gonna have to be moved in and out of the chair. I also feel these pins in me so I don't know if I'll be comfortable in a chair have to try it. I'm hoping so I can at least move around.

To say I'm dissapointed with this timeframe is an understatement. I'm too young for this shit and all because a lady hit me due to her lack of paying attention. She took full blame for the accident but that doesn't help me get back to my life could be years for me to fully recover and get back into a good physical shape.

Patience Eric!
You are also way too young to suffer the rest of your life from badly fixed pelvis!

Mental toughness is not about how one handles success, but how one deals with adversity and disappointment. Look for the long game, and know you have a lot of folks pulling for you.
You will be back at 100%. Not too many can come back like that, so finish this thing strong, Amigo.

I'll certainly be happier if I can get in a wheelchair. I've talked to the rehab place and they think they can get me in one. I'm still unable to put weight on my legs so I'll be at the mercy of the nurses to move me in and out of the chair but i would be able to move my own ass around this place It will make these three weeks go quicker! Love to go sit out on the deck here at this rehab facility once it warms up of course.

I've never lost confidence in my recovery just hate the waiting. I've never liked anyone else's time frames

It's great to see that your healing Eric, just give your body the time. I know it's hard to do and that there are many things you want to get done, but at this point in time, rest and relaxation is the best medicine to a full recovery... :old2:

Remember too buddy you have already built that muscle up and muscle has memory once you get better and are able to push a little that mass you worked so hard to put on will come back quick. It was there before and your body will know what to do. When the time comes and your healed just focus on the rest of your life and remember your a health minded active person. My guess is within a year you will more than likely have more size than you did before because your motivation level will be there. And as many have said being 32 you can still kick some serious ass in the gym once your cleared from the dr.

Hang tough bud.....it just takes time. Healing is the patience part. I was cracked open 5yrs ago and I still deal with the fallout. Like everyone has said, you are young and healing quicker than they expected, BUT you still human. Occupy the mind in the meantime. You got this.

As an older friend always tells me, "patience grasshopper" the time will go quickly Eric, your doctor sounds like a smart man, listen to him and take it easy, I know you wanna get going towards being able to walk and do all your normal activities, but something bigger than you and me is saying it's not time yet, there are reasons for everything, you could have easily been paralyzed or worse, I know all your friends and family are grateful for how well your doing, stay strong and be as positive as possible and you'll be back in no time! Our prayers are with you buddy.

A few more weeks Eric is nothing compared to the long term benefit. :yesnod:

Not trying to push you but the sooner you hit the wheelchair the sooner you will start building your upper strength back. Before you know it you will be doing laps. And as the others have said, your next appointment is just around the corner.
Yep that's why im looking forward to it hoping today. For some reason my surgeon didn't write down that it's okatin the paperwork and therefore rehab place can't allow me as that isn't what was originally passed down to them.

Just to be clear I'm lucky this is it and grateful I'm not paralyzed or have serious issues. I actually know a guy that is now paraplegic from the waste down from just jumping in the ocean he was a little drunk and just dove in the ocean chasing a soccer ball him and his friends were kicking on the beach and broke his neck!

So I know I'm lucky son of a bitch!

I'm going to share a bit of advice, and experience, with you... don't rush it!

When I was 20, I had a really bad motorcycle accident, spent 3 months in a Navy hospital... open bay, 30 beds to the room, etc....

Anyway, I pushed it, my recovery. I turned 21 in that ward, I was young and healthy. I'm paying the price for pushing it, my wrist hurts (broken wrist w/pins), my hip bothers me randomly (broken hip w/pins), and my knees bother me randomly (broke both legs). It didn't hurt much back then but this shit stays with you and the problems become amplified as you grow older. Let your body heal... think of the high caliber athletes that rush their recovery just to end their season and go back to recovering.

The waiting sucks, and no matter your age, it takes time to heal. Be patient, as hard as it is, patience is of the utmost importance to a proper recovery.

But I'm super stoked you are progressing so rapidly.

Thanks Tim appreciate your advice from a personal experience.

I just sat in a wheelchair today my pelvic surgeon gave me permission yesterday. Just sitting up I was lightheaded for a few minutes after 6 weeks on my back. I still can't put weight on my legs so I have to slide across a board to get on it. I spent 3 hours in the chair today and lifted some weights. After 3 hours I was exhausted got back into bed and took a nap.

I learned a lot today too, and its going to be a long recovery. I get the fixator out Feb 5th then it's walking which won't be easy. At least I'm able to get sitting up right now as that will get me ready for standing which is good.

I just went with my physical therapist. Wasn't much. 4lb weights were tiring kinda embarrassing for a guy that could bench 225 6 weeks ago!
