Ok...guys... my tank is getting repainted... I want to remove the landmarker paint saver ring... I want to then get something totally cool.

I have always wanted a pop up. just for the pure sleekness. But I'm open for more ideas...

What do you all got up your sleeves?

Only one problem... I'm not sure BDM will want to go thru all that for me with the welding.. unless I can talk them into letting me do it before I send it to them...

I don't see why you couldn't have one welded in before you send your tank off, unless they are just touching the paint up.

Yeah welding in..just isn't something I want to get into... there are more options that don't require the weld.

Plus welding will ruin the liner/sealer which would have to be stripped out and re-done.

There is a guy on ClubChopper with a thread on wanting to change his pop up cap to a regular cap due to it rattling.
I don't have any experience with pop ups so don't know if this is a problem with all or just certain brands.
Just a though for you,
Ray

I bought a spinner cap this summer for when I split my thank and widen it. It comes with a weld in bung. It's made by Covington Cycles and is chromed. It sits down close to the tank not sticking up high. https://www.covingtonscyclecity.com/flash.asp?scene=&subscene=&goto=

Westbury makes some great caps also but I wanted chrome so went with Covington. Westbury does make an adapter that might work for my cap to fit the stock tank. I may call and find out.

This one would fit with all you Jester's!

These are all sleek and cool looking but expensive!

Later,
Ray

I put on a set of pop ups for my 03 with the split tanks. They look nice, but the Landmark functions a lot better. Meaning: the pop-up you need to really tighten them down or they will rattle loose and fly off (from experience). They also are a bitch to get off when they are tight because there is not much grip on the pop-up area.

I think I like that East Bay one... there is no spin in paint saver. Push it, it pops up, and spin the whole assembly out.

I thought about the westbury too, but I THINK I want something downplayed. But either way, once the landmark comes out, the options are growing.

Nope... I had already said something to Bob about it... he said he's sure they won't care... I have a call into the paint dept... waiting on a return call.

Thanks Rainman... I wouldn't want to put you out, I could order it... besides, wouldn't I want to leave it in for shipping?

But I will remember that if I need it. TNX!

I got a pop up you can try after you get the paint saver ring out. Let me know and if you like it give me $40 if not send it back. If you need pics let me know.
