I have a small leak there myself. Plan on just leaving it untill I change to an open belt hopefully. To change out the gasket between the primary and the starter....its more of ring that sits at the end of the jackshaft. Pull your outter primary, pull your clutch assembly, take out the jackshaft, take out the starter. Replace ring. And re-assemble. The whole process is listed in an HD service manual. Just grabbed a buddies and took a look.

There isn't a starter o-ring on a 2003 Pitbull. There is a lip seal that the starter jack shaft runs through.

If you have (or have a friend) who has a harley softail service manual (something in the 1992 range). The repair procedure is pretty well laid out and the bolt torques will be correct.

The jackshaft seal installs with the lip of the seal facing towards the primary.

As far as geting the o-ring to seal apply a thin bead of silicone RTV to the o-ring groove on the inner primary.

Getting the gaskets to seal properly on all of those chrome surfaces can be a real pain.

BDM used gaskets form an outfit in Arizona that makes a killer gasket for the primary and inspection cover.

Contact these folks and they will either provide you with what you need or tell you who you can get them from in your area.

You don't have to pull the clutch on any model or year Big Dog to remove the starter! You don't even have to pull the primary cover on 05 and up Dogs.

On 04 and earlier you have to take of the primary cover to access the jackshaft bolt.
