Gas mileage

We own 3 100,000 gallon barges and the tugs to tow them. I have seen one of our dredge burn just under 10,000 gallons in a day. We run around the clock 7 days a week. The main engines are 3608 cat and we have 5 3412 cats running 590 kw generators. Fuel doesn't stay in our barges very long and now we are required to burn ultra-low sulfur diesel.
The new rig we are building will have a pair of 500hp emd 720 series diesels for the pumps.
15PPM yep, that's been at our pumps for sometime now, and even our home heating oil or off road diesel right now is 500PPM, it was 1200-1500PPM a year ago but they are refining it more for EPA. The New England states are already at 15PPM for the off road or home heating oil and Pa. will be there soon also. Gotta save the Ozone:old2:
My Deere requires the ultra-low but the dealer told me I could use the 500PPM without worrying about the warranty.:whoop:

PPM ain't gonna matter a bit more than nothin' when Yellowstone decides to blow it's top. nothin' like bein' 400 years past due.

Was that sitting at the same gas station both times and was the front tire turned the same way, that could vary a 1/2 gallon easy and if I fill it sitting on it I can get an additional 1/2 gallon in it. However I will only fill it that full if I'm just starting out on my ride for the day.
No, and agreed on the squeezing every last drop in .... that is only done if on a road trip!

Mileage doesn't matter so much money-wise if you get gas cheap like in Finland, only about 7$/gallon
