Great pics and he said "like new"....The paint is bad on most of the bike, it appears that he had used a rattle can to paint the frame and it ran, the rear right turn signal cover was glued in place, tires were bald, pitting everywhere. When I first saw the bike I figured I was going to buy this one but as soon as I got near it my heart sank. It had an out of state title that wasn't in his name, said it belonged to his half brother but he has a "letter" saying he can sell it...... I might have given him 6k for it but before I could make an offer he said that he would part it out before he accepts anything less....it was a waste of time.
Makes sense..part away then pal.
I find most people definition of "like new" is different. While I'm not sure why?
Rattle can paint on the frame sounds like it was dropped at some point too

Sunday my buddy asked me to give him a ride to pick up his "new/old" chopper he just bought. I said no, you give me a ride and I'll ride it back for ya... He didn't tell me it was a hardtail and when I hit a bump on the bridge on I-4 at 80 mph my back went out. I had to pull over and let him ride it the rest of the way. My back still hurts so bad I can barely walk. No wonder the old guys are riding baggers...
Hey... this "old guy" ain't riding a bagger... but I'm not riding a rigid frame, anymore, either...lol

I know that bump well Bill. Gave up the rigid three weeks ago and looking forward to riding the K9 up to my buddies in Deltona.
You will like it...i remember the first ride when I got the k9 after riding the rigid for about 4 years.
My first comment was "it's like riding a couch"

6k isn't much and I have seen some older bikes that do look like new, however I approach each bike expecting normal "wear and tear" no matter how it's advertised and hope for the best from there but some of these folks come out with bold faced lies. I've had some folks knock their bikes about every little ding and pit and in my opinion it wasn't bad at all. Those are the folks that I wished I ran across when I was looking for my bike.
Some folks like to keep these bikes in "show condition", and that's all well and good, but if you ride them, they are eventually going to show it especially in the coastal regions where the salt really plays Hell with the billet, and some chrome.
There are members whose Big Dog is trailered and ridden only short distances, there are members that ride coast to coast and border to border... Keeping them cleaned, serviced, and well protected is the key if you ride yours.
At times I see comments that are a bit critical coming from members that rarely ride their bike, other than just down the road for a bike nite or something.
No Matter what you do to a bike, a car, or a truck... the miles will show eventually, and that's life. I do the best I can within my ability and skill sets... that's all anyone can do, unless you can afford to have it done for you.

Yeah, I like riding mine so the only show condition it'll be ready for will be the next "ugly dog" contest.
The only thing that I can say for us down here is... Lot's off elbow grease, time, and Marine & Boat Wax.
If I were a collector or showman, it would be entirely different.
I, myself have a lot of hard mileage, for my model year.
It shows more in person, than in pics, too.

Yeah it's comfortable but 6 hours on a trip tends to cause some extremities to start going numb...

I can certainly see your point there...compared to a chopper, those are a pretty posh ride. I would have laughed too.
In the mid 90's... I did a "lap around America" on an FXWG, after coming home from an overseas deployment..... over 12,000 miles.
But at that time I had only had 2 broken vertebrae, not 6, and my hip and pelvis hadn't been fractured. I've slowed down a little since then...lol

I ride the shit out of mine but have found that if your u stay on it's much easier to keep it clean.. never wanted a show bike but love keeping it clean
