Nee to replace the start module - is ebay my only option?

I'm chasing down a "no spark" problem. I've replaced everything but the EHC unit and the start module (p/n BD4121-1S). As the EHC has nothing to do with creating a spark, the only culprit left is the start module - photo below.

Can these still be purchased somewhere, or is waiting and watching ebay my only option? Is there something that will replace this unit?

That unit is your Start Module
It has 2 functions
1) Ignition Switch Function / provides power to the EHC when the key is turned on
2) Start Function / provides power to the Starter when the starter button is depressed

If your ignition switch turns the system on and off and you can turn your motor over when the key is turned on, run button has been pressed and start button is then pressed then replacing that is not going to solve your no spark issue.

Wow, good to know. My ignition switch turns the system of and on, and the starter will turn over when the ignition switch is pressed, so it's back to the drawing board.

Thank you for the reply!

Check for a flashing red led on the ignition module.....if not, get another cam sensor and clean the connector from the sensor. (even better, cut the plug out and solder) very low level voltage from the cam sensor so it doesn't take much resistance to stop the signal.

Both times that module went out on me...the starter would engage whether I was pressing the button or not. While I was going down the road, while it was sitting still, etc. I put a relay in place of that unit the second time it went out. I beleive it is a Drag Specialties relay.

Problem solved, but damn this was a bitch. I installed a new Thunderheart ignition module, a new sensor and the coil. Nothing - still no spark. I had 4 guys who knew their stuff look at it. Nothing. The fifth guy came over and removed the Thuderheart system, replacing it with a Twin Tec nose cone module. Problem solved. Damn.... after all that time and trouble (and expense), all it took was 2 hours and $199.

Nice bike...sounds like the first 4 guys didn't really "know their stuff" though. Haha. Although I'm not sure why replacing the module, cams sensor and coil didn't work unless there was a short in the wiring to begin with.

Glad you got it up and running.

Whoa just say the date did this take 2 years? Thanks for the update at least.

Yes, this was a 2-year thing. That sounds worse than it is. I had 3 other bikes on the road, so there was nothing lighting a fire under my ass. It allowed me to be stubborn about this situation. I just couldn't believe that with all those parts replaced that I STILL couldn't get a spark.
