looks like bdm is going to give me new rocker covers,i understand there are 2 types, TPC and S S i have also seen some threads where people were complaining about increased valve train noise,is there any difference in the 2, one better than the other, the only problem i have is the crome is starting to peel,i may just get the new pan head style, and skip bdm on this one,,any thoughts?

The S&S covers are 6 bolt, the TP's are 4 bolt. The S&S covers have 3 bolts on each side along the outer edges. The TP has 2 bolts on each side at the top. It is said that the S&S covers indicate an all S&S valve train. That is supposed to be the best set up. I have the all S&S and my engine is fine with 10,000 + miles on it. It's been "blessed" by Jason from Big Dog and he said it was running perferct which it is.

BDM did a whole new top end on my bike and put all S&S valvetrain in a new set of TP boxes because the chrome was bad on mine. They assured me that the issue was all fixed, not the dealer, but BDM direct. That was about 4000 miles ago.

I also have the TP boxes with the S&S componets. Mine are the original but everything else was changed due to excessive guide wear. Was assured that TP covers and boxes were fine and have had no issues.

I see that you have an 06, if you have owned this more than 6 months and you are the original owner, be very thankful for either cover for chrome is only covered for 6 months, so if they are replacing due to chrome pitting or failure, they have gone out of their way for sure.

Titus,

Good to hear that they are taking care of you, sad to hear it hasn't taken this long. I will all be good in the end.

I'm getting concerned about mine now - spark plug on the rear head looks slightly oil fouled and I'm wondering if this could be due to valve guide wear - it certainly shouldn't be piston rings I would hope
