You are right, directly at the ignition switch there are 2 orange cables, but at connector 21 one of these orange cables goes on a black one that goes then ove connector 24 and 23 to PIN B21 from backbone harness connector B. No the switch has only the 2 positions ON and OFF
Pin B21 should be ground on your original EHC.

Just an FYI PIN numbers don't align on the old EHC with the RIP kit.

Black wire on ignition?

You should have two orange and you should have 13 going in and out when on. Did you change your switch to a 3 position?

Someone installed an additional connecting cable directly to the switch (see picture) Who knows what it was and used for what ??? .. So I just took it out and the system runs.. So the GEN 2 seems really easy plug and play... The only thing is that the neutral LED at the announciator don't light up but therefore the highbeam... so I go on to analyse it because I changed at the same time my speedo to Dakota digital.... hope that BDM didn't missmatched the cables but even when I change the gear from neutral to first or second the highbem LED don't switch off... the light button on left handlebar for lowbeam/highbeam seems not to have a function anymore .. all the rest of the lights in perfect function ... so I keep up with news when I know more...

Are you sure that the headlight bulb isn't burnt out?

The headlight switch should work. Open up that headlight bucket and see if there's an issue in there. While you are in there make sure you dont have the old style plastic plug as that melts anyways. Upgrade to a ceramic one.

You remember to plug the neutral wire back on the top of the transmission?

The hesdlight bulb isn't burned out. I opemed the headlight bulb and its all ok there. I already have ceramic in there. The neutreal is connected on top of the transmission. I wonder why everything functions correct with my old EHC (I connected in paralell and made some test). It's curious .. haha .. so some more analyses to think about ... but the chopper runs .. hmm ... what I found out is that with the new kit there is no measurable volts on the green cable that goes to the neutreal the neutral switch is ok. There I measure 0.03 volts while engine is running ... curious curious ..hmmm

What else new EHC could be than new EHC?

Like Franco said, there is about 100 pages on this subject, but yes, RIP kit, DOC's, Axel's EHC are all easy to install EHC replacements.

You might also rewire oldskool with bunch of relays or use different Thunderheart model (RIP and DOC are based on Thunderheart) ,
or maybe M-Unit V.2 by Motogadget. That is one interesting option I would like to see someone install properly with new harness.

Or you can go totally bonkers and get Wires Plus.
Going thru all posts came across this. I would never recommend wires plus . Pd 1200 for system and install . 2100 miles later need a new module. Replaced it now other module goes bad. This company sucks ass , do not buy . I only have 10 k on my bike only 2400 of those wires plus nightmares

Go with DOC's, you won't regret it.

Kinda wish I had been able to do that... but Bike Week was approaching rapidly, and Doug had a RIP-2 on the shelf... and of course I got the friends and family deal on it.
Before I got my ESC, I took my time researching which system had the best feedback. I was in no panic to make a decision, my bike was running fine just had spells of unreliability and the rats nest of fucking wires was driving me batty..(PDM wiring looks very similar to the junk wires plus) Seems that lots of guys do make hasty decisions because their scoots are down and they grab the first thing that is available.

Prior Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance... but my EHC crapped out a couple weeks befopre y'all were coming down. Oh well... philosophy works great, until Murphy steps in. :oldhardlaugh:
