New battery... bike won't start after riding for awhile...

Since this happened after a new battery was installed have you done the easiest thing and verified all the wires are connected and to the correct spots.

Once on my first bike I accidentally connected the output of the VR to the negative side (It was a BLACK wire not red or even red striped like I would have expected.) and then the system couldn't charge the bike.

Ever since when I take a battery out I tie all the wires together for each terminal with a twisty tie or something so I don't go by color alone.
I'll have to double check that. I know I put the wires back in the exact same spot that they were when the bike got here. Previous owner said he had the battery out for the winter on a tender on his work bench. I guess it's possible he could have gotten something crossed up if there's a black wire that's supposed to be on the positive terminal. I'm sure anyone would make the mistake thinking it goes to the negative side. I'll have to take a close look at that.

I have an extra voltage regulator if u wanna try it before dropping 80 bucks for a new one
That would be great! Good way to eliminate it or identify it as the problem having a spare like that.

I'm just really hoping it's not the EHC. If I need to replace that down the road... so be it but I just got this thing. I don't want to do a full rewire right off the bat.

You don't have to rewire anything now bro. @KaptinAmerika (Curtis) at wildsteedworx.com has Axel's EHC's for like $475 and they're literally plug and play. I've been watching this whole EHC ordeal for a decade now and thankfully mine has lasted this long. It's so easy to replace now (with a 2 year warranty) that I will buy one at the first sign of a hiccup.

@bigkelk9 thanks for helping out a new brother with the time and parts, that's what this is about gents!

Whew! That makes me feel a lot better! That's really not bad at all. Worst case... I may need one of those but I guess we will find out soon. I appreciate the link on that bro!!

And yes... BigKelK9... I appreciate the help brother! I'll be getting with you today or tomorrow. I'm just trying to get the time to mess with it. I was supposed to be off today but they called out for OT this morning and I can't ever turn it down when they offer it so I'm at work again. Lol It's been a hectic past couple of weeks out here on top of being dead smack in the middle of a move from my apartment to the house I bought so I literally have stuff spread everywhere between the two places right now. Luckily... My lease overlaps my closing date by almost 6 weeks so I've just been taking loads of stuff down to the house a little at a time which has made it easier than having to rush to get it all finished.

But anyway, we will get started on the bike asap.

I really appreciate the help fellas! I'm really impressed with this forum and the people here. I'm glad I bought a big dog!!

Solid indeed! Yeah... I would typically join forums to research info or to look for help on different things so i guess thats the norm for most people. I've never been on a forum where people were so attentive and willing to help though. That's pretty cool!! I'm always willing to lend a hand if there's something I can do to help out in any way.

Gonna add this to the conversation, may help someone.
I had a similar issue and after contacting Curtis at Wild Steed, he suggested checking the stator connection, and ended up buying his VOLTAGE REGULATOR PLUG RETAINER
http://www.wildsteedworx.com/index....fo&cPath=65_68_173_82_281_285&products_id=435
Designed to hold the regulator/rectifier plug tight against the stator plug preventing arcing and premature failure, no issues since and I still have the original EHC

Hey guys whats the best way to check the starter to see if its weak or going out? And do you guys rebuild or just replace starter?
Thanks

I'm so glad you put this tid bit in there. My issue was after about an hour of straight riding it would die. Took battery home and charged went back and it fired right up and and finished my trip home. I've pulled the battery many times but usually just bar hop so it's never been an issue.
