Gotta tell ya, hearing all this from a forum based on a bike platform borrowed completely (105%) from a manufacturer that boasts 100 years of innovative engineering, made the subject of ridicule, rather than respected as the originator seems a little disingenuous to me. Don't have a moment's hesitation in saying so.

OK, good 'cause I'm not here to offend and don't really care to "lock horns". Harley was, and in my opinion, isn't a leader in the industry as far a style goes. Their bikes all look the same to me, I really would like to see them knock out their own "chopper". Yeah, Ford has been making cars forever....but it's still not a Ferrari. They both do the same thing just one of them makes it....sexy. Harley with all their years of experience can't seem to break out a different mold....well they tried with the....what is it??? the v-rod or whatever it was suppose to be.
I had a harley as well as other bikes but find these production "choppers" more to my liking.
With that said...Harley is stilll the "king" of the v-twin market but when it's all said and done...I still prefer my big dog.

My point is that none of that causes me to disrespect the roots of my bike. It would not exist without the HD pioneering and fortitude. So now I simply do major upkeep on my superior bike while my wife steps onto her Fatboy and starts up every time, frequently waiting for me to recharge my battery or whatever other annoying thing I have to do as a matter of course in our quest to see the world died by side.

The Harley bashing is all done in fun like I said, They're still king....in fact....I've been thinking of picking up a cheap skirtster to chop for a bar hopper but that'll be a while down the road. My girl use to ride dirt bikes and crotch rockets but doesn't want another bike....she's content with riding on the back. Frankly, I don't think I'd trust her on her own bike....but at the end of the day....it's all good.

Yeah. As I get around the country, I have learned that nobody does Sportsters like Florida. Those guys make every kind of ride out of those little bikes. I think it is part economy and part power to weight ratio.

Find an old school bike builder that knows how to get a chopper front end off the rear end of a Chevy pickup when you start that Sporty project and you will have a blast.

You can't go wrong with them, you can find them all day long on craigslist really cheap and the best part...no problem finding parts!

I guess the rocker was some sort of failed attempt to real the leash so to speak. I have both and at this time plan on Selling my syreetgle this spring. The bulldog that I bought fits me better than the harley. With this said, other than tires, brake pads, and service I have had no issues with the harley.

Don't know what the market is like in Va. for Harley's but it's flooded here in Fl. Well, we do ride all year so I guess that would be a given...I guess that's why they have free beer at one shop and there's another that has free food on the weekends. They can't just be selling t-shirts to keep that going....
