air in...air out. Thats what its all about. The first stuff you do, the basic stuff, gives you the most bang for your buck i.e. exhaust, intake, carb. All easy to do yourself. Single biggest difference could be exhaust. Not sure changing your ignition as one of the first mods will make any discernable difference.

^what Lee said. Don't jack with the ignition, these things will make plenty of power with a high flow intake (carb and filter) and exhaust (2-1 is the best, but they're fugly). Then get a good dyno tune. You could do all that for about 1000 bucks if you're frugal and find the intake/exhaust on ebay. The XXX carb is direct but they're sweet.

I went with the TAZ on mine :2thumbs:
I went with a whole boat load of mods this winter... so even though I am having a hard time with self control, I am still breakin her in...
I went in this order
Pipes(BigRadius)
Carb(TAZ)
(600cam I skipped to rad cam)
Heads(Port - Polish - Oversize Valves)
Compression/radical Cam(I went with DaveMackie? - Woods is very popular)
Pipes Again(WickeBros)
Intake(soon to be Gates Performance)
Ignition(possibly this winter)...

and let me tell ya....Cutty's bike sounds SIICK AS FUCK!!!
can't wait to see his new intake set-up when he gets it.....Big Al's bike is loud as shit!!!

I went with 2.0 In and 1.61 Out
Thank sDave, I am changing the oil today... I get to see what 4000rpm's feels like...Cutty's bike sounds SIICK AS FUCK!!!
I am still smiling when I think about how she sounds, very happy with all the changes so far... and think I will keep getting happier as I get to use it :2thumbs:

I kinda forgot about this, but here is the Gates air cleaner that impressed the heck out of me.
They claim the it out flows many open intakes, because of the turbulance the filter creates.

I gotta tell you changing the ignition out to a single fire made a big difference in the way the bike ran all around. Everything really smoothed out. I went with a Dyna 2000i, install was pretty easy. I've heard great things about the S&S IST ignition but it was more money than I wanted to spend. In hindsight I'd probably just get it.
