Wheel bearing question

just replace the wheel bearings on the sled.
The front wheel is allot tighter than usual it does spin but I am noticing quite a bit of resistance.
It is not binding and no noise noticed but is this normal for new bearings to be tighter?

No. I would think they should be smooth . Same type of bearing? Sounds like a little preload going on

If the bearing didn't quite get seated all the way in the hub I could see it being tighter.

Obviously incorrect size bearing would do it too...but I assume you double checked that? I don't know the sleds bearings but on the dogs the bearing #'s have to end in "RS". And the RS stands for American size or 3/4" axle. I'm just letting you know, cause it's kinda confusing. For us there is a 6204-2-12 and a 6204-2RS-12. One will fit right while the other won't.

I think the 2 RS means 2 Rubber Seals (one on each side) the 12 is the sixteents. (12/16 =3/4)

Think your right there. So the 6204 2RS is wrong one that must be the metric and the 6204-2RS-12 is the right one.

Thanks Rodger that makes more sense. I should have known actually since the 6204-2ZZ is the metal shielded one vs the Rubber Seal. And the 16 is the rear with the one inch. 6205-2RS-16

I just bought 2 of those fronts to have in stock. Pricey little things. $29 from Timken:-(

The bearings seem fine. I honestly think it's the rubber seals that are extremely tight around the spacers. I am going to take the wheel back to the shop that installed the bearings.
