I'm considering having the "R" ratio gears put into my trans.
Anybody here done this?
If so is the launch that much better? Is it still very streetable?

I think the difference GS is the "R" gears are close ratio and give you closer gear shifting or whatever it does.

Changing the sprocket is cool also but doesn't provide the same changes like the close ratio gears do.

I had the Baker 6spd with "R" gears and first and second were very close together - great for quick starts - as for 3-5 same ratio until you hit 6th which was very long. Most 88" HD stock motors chug in 6th which mine was not. For the Dog 1 & 2 already feel pretty close so not sure if you gain much other than shifting a bit sooner.

I'd do the final drive if it were me. It'll give you more off the line and still have plenty of top end.

I don't know what you're trying to accomplish so, don't know what to say.

I've considered changing the final drive ratio though.

1st and 2nd should already be close together. I guess it might also depend on your power.
1st gear for me if I hammer it is a spin anyways till I hit 2nd. I have the stock baker on my bike.
