HORN??

I pulled 1/2 the bike apart trying to find the horn. It looks like someone ripped it off or something. I cant fint the actual horn or a yellow wire anywhere on the lower 1/2 of the bike. I took the speedo housing off the gas tank and found an electrical unit. There is a yellow wire underneath it thats chopped. Should I test it when pushing the horn button down, splice a wire to it and run it to a new horn, ground it and call it a day?

I need to have one on the bike for the NYS inspection.

Does anyone know where to buy a good LOUD bike horn?

Thanks guys.

My bracket broke and I lost my horn on the highway somewhere 2 years ago. The yellow wire on mine comes out right next to the green starter wire, but I've got an 04 Chopper. If you find that yellow wire is the horn wire, yeah just run a new wire down to your new horn, should be able to just ground the horn to a bolt on the frame somewhere, and call it a day. Check JP cycles or Dennis Kirk for a million different horns. I usually get stuff from JP in 2 days, UPS ground. Philly area here.

My ridgeback is a 05. I don't know what year your bike is but two days ago when I was working on mine I noticed my horn was tucked nicely right in front of the battery.

From the many threads on this along with the two you've started now!! :whoop:

On my 03 Mastiff I replaced the horn with a Hella. Louder and you can get a "Hi" or "Low" tone.

On the 03 they are mounted under the oil bag on the tranny cross member.

But here are a bunch of options.

When I sold my buddy my 04 softail he swaped out the stock horn for a chrome one. I put his old stock HD horn on the dog and it's way louder and deeper too. It mounts under the oil bag anyway so the fact that it's a bit bulky and ugly black plastic does'nt matter to me.
