Call them up and talk to them, they might sell them to you anyway at 399, ya never know until ya ask

I emailed em asking if they had em because they have a hell of a lot more parts then what's listed on their site and that's what they told me as far as yeah they had em and how much they were...

Did they say they would sell them to you for 399?
No, I didn't ask, I just asked if they had the revolvers available and if so for how much, they responded that they have the complete set for 599 and that includes toe pegs, passenger pegs and hand grips and they are only sold as a complete set. So I'll ask, just don't know how to approach that one ya know..

Didn't ya say earlier that they sold a set on ebay for 399? maybe I'm mistaken but just use that as a guide line on the price, it never hurts to ask

The stock transmission in an 04 will last you a long time unlike the 05-07 models. No weak mainshaft to worry about or Clutch carrier and Hub issues. Or Voltage regulator fires..haha

Also any Harley EVO starter will drop right in so never have to worry about those parts.

Gaskets, bearings, etc are just Harley off the shelf if you need something.

Speaking of tires you'll get 15k easy out of a 250 size too. Whereas the 300 has about half the life.

04 are great bikes if your okay with the 250. Just an FYI the 04 Chopper is a little shorter than your k9 too, so I will admit they look a little more compact. My 04 risgeback and the k9 have the same length though.

I'm had something else and now I can't think of it.

If I didn't get a chubby everytime I see a 300 I probably would have sold the k9 by now and got an 03-04 chopper.

I do agree! I do not notice real difference in balance between my K9 and Chopper. To be honest, I think Chopper is better ride. Only problem with me is the size, being 6.3 and 36" inseam Choppa feels bit small compared to K9.

Not sure the vr fires were corrected after 07 I believe some had still caught fire after 07 I know cdoggys did and his is 08 or 09 and kinda makes ya think was it really the vr or the circuit breaker which bdm kept using even after doing a recall in 06 and using the 40amp fuse rather than the breaker
Well that Fuse or breaker wasn't stopping a VR fire it had to go with the component. I honestly have no idea how the DOT let that suffice.

Either way the defective VR were only in early 05-06 recall was issued in Aug of 06 and it was only certain model numbers not all were bad. Bus bar was warped on some from the manufacturer not really Big Dog fault here necessarily.

If someone has a bike after that and it caught fire thats just bad luck.

I just put new compufire VR in both bikes this year...i think in 5 years I'll just replace them again. It's just $100 part and it will ruin your day when it goes bad. I change my clutch cable every few years because that will also ruin your day. Been there done that....

I have what seems to be unusual rear tire wear. Heavy ware on the right of center. Of
course there is 11000 miles and the tire is the original from '03
11,000 miles is pretty good for such a soft tire. Road crown would wear the left side not the Right.

But which tire is the best Avon or Metzler? :willynilly:
Had an old model Avon, it was piece of shit. Then I had new Metzler, it was good for about 3000 miles, then it just gave up. In about 500 miles both sides cracked, it just went to pieces, I was lucky to limp to New Orleans to get a new Avon. Now it has about 5000 miles on it, looks half done. So I would say new model Avon is better. I keep 42 pressure.

I had an original Avon with 55 miles on -03 Choppa when I bought it. Few years ago. Rode it wery carefully from Wichita to Naples, then some there. It was so hard it showed no sign of wear after about 3000 miles. Then I took it to about 120 mph and tire just went to pieces . Had a new one waiting, just wanted to see how long the old tire lasts, I was checking it like every two hours. When it started to go it went in less than 50 miles. And yes, it was slippery!
The lesson is: old tire may look good, but it will kill you one day.

That bike had been in climate controlled environment (pedestal in Big Dog factory lobby) all it's life, so whatever anyone says about rubber not going bad if it's in cool and shadow is talking bullshit.

I ran my Avon from 2004 up until this spring and it finally starter cracking on the walls for me to be comfortable but plenty of meat on it at 13k
