IMHO the 'new' Big Dog is a separate business from the original. All of us bought our bikes from an individual another whole separate motor company. I have always found Matt, Brandon, and Ohmster to be cooperative and helpful with regard to any questions or info needed. It's a small operation and Sheldon Coleman built thousands of bikes before 2011. If everyone called for information......
I have seen Matt provide a lot of very useful information to the 'old' BDM population, but in my opinion, any legitimate claim for tech support died with the sinking of the original BDM.
NOW: I bought that red Bulldog Bagger from the same place Viking did. Yesterday. A 2010 w/53 miles. One thing I know for sure--it's a bike with no factory warranty--nada-- (I think S&S goes by time), so essentially first time I throw a leg over it, it magically turns into a very low mileage seven year old used BD Bagger. I paid $18K because it's brand new and I love the damn thing. And like Viking, I'm willing to pay to ride the most beautiful Bagger out there.
If it breaks within a month, I'll call Theo.. But I hope he is a stand-up guy. If he can't or won't fix it --like Viking--I'll do it, or turn to this Forum to find out ("hep me Mr. Wright and John Sachs!!").
My point is that many of us appreciate the support that Matt provides, and no one is suggesting it's not in Matt's best business interests to help out Forum members. But----his first obligation is his business to run, and like many newer small businesses, it's run on a tight schedule and an even tighter budget.
So when he doesn't answer soon enough, understand it's better to re-inquire in an Email than to think he owes us. I know him well enough to say he would never be indifferent or disrespect potential customers--but there are only so many hours in a day. And he has bikes to build for cash paying customers.
