What I was gonna do this winter was tear it down and re-chrome and repolish everything. The ins is gonna pay for that for me, but I started thinking hmmmm if I sold the mastiff I could buy a low mile k-9 and not have to tear down anything. I just hate dealing with low ball asshomes when your trying to sell something. I have a running driving 66 mustang I had for sale, I got tired of dealing with craigslist assholes and told my wife take the post down I'm gonna end up punching someone before this car is sold. So it just sits in storage now...

I go back and forth. I love the paint scheme it's (to me. ) the coolest one I've ever seen. I like the looks of the k-9 better than the mastiff. But I love the paint job on this bike. When I first saw this bike it was a total wow factor to me. I've never got that from any of the k-9's I looked at because I didn't like the paint jobs as much. Things I don't like about the mastiff is the 250 rear tire, wish it was wider but I can live with it. Anyone ever put k-9 front forks on a mastiff? I know it prob wouldn't work (geometry) but I do wonder what it would look like.
Simple really.. all been kinda stated in this little blog here.. u dig the k9 and have a chance to get one, go for it, u could probably part ur bike out on ebay for alot more then what u would get selling it as whole.. I personally think the K9 is the best looking bike bdm ever made.. but again it's all a matter of personal preference. Me I would be more into parting it out if the money was an issue or put the money towards another bike and keep her around and slowly completely redo the other as time and money permit. Good luck.. BTW, bdm sells used bikes with a new rip system and has a k9 on their site for about 11k.. sweet bike too!

You just answered you own question, sell the mastiff! Just find a K9 with the paint you like, there are a lot out there, just be patient.
Each time I have bought a bike I zero in more on what I'm looking for in a bike. The 2011 mastiff is it for me. I had 4 bikes in the garage at one point and sold the 04 night train and the 05 mastiff. I can't ride them all lol. I was just keeping the 05 mastiff around for eye candy anyway.

If i do get the k-9 I have to sell the mastiff. $ I get from ins. I'll still need to put 3 or 4k with it to get a low mile k-9. I don't really care what year it is as long as is 06 or newer I just want one with 5,000 miles or less. I want something that is mint if I'm going to sell my mastiff. If you all know of one please let me know.

That's what I did. Bikes leading up to that point, that fell through, where a blessing in disguise. Time is on your side. You just have to be patient.

I think you'll come out on the wrong end doing it that way personally. especially when accounting for the cost of your time.

In my opinion unload your mastiff for like 6k don't waste the trouble then you have 13k to buy a K9. There's a low mileage black one for sale right now at that price. That's what I would do and your wife would probably agree. Been there done it and never got the fucking T-shirt but I did keep the dog.

:agree: I said 5K for the quick sale, I think any more than that for a wrecked Mastiff and you will have it for a couple years:2cents:

Other than the dent on the back fender and a chip about the size of a pencil eraser. The rest is Alu. Bolt ons

I'm gonna polish the road rash out of the tag bracket and clutch lever. Has a very small scuff on bottom of primary.

I do need a headlight and turn signal. I've ridden it a few hundred miles since it was knocked over. Mechanically it's fine. It has 13,035 miles on it.

I'm gonna have my buddy fix the dent and chip then I'll clean and polish it this winter take my time and sell it next spring. I'm gonna put more $ with the ins $ and buy a k-9 this winter.
