Correct...puts more strain on your main bearings so probably need to replace more often maybe 20-30k miles. Not really hard to do. Pressing out the main bearing is quite simple can be done without removing trans

the way yours stays on the lift that probably means you would never have to go back in the gearbox;)

If Jeff sends you that efm clutch mess it'll probably go good on a treadmill

Yep doesn't make sense to make stuff when it can be purchased ready to go and I don't think that wider belt is such a good idea for the transmission jmo
I was actually even considering going 5"... Making it is no big deal for me, couple hours with a scanner and few hours doing the Cad model, all of which would be at work so I would be getting paid to make it... win win..

It's been going that way. Although I haven't had to do the same repair twice always something new, so I guess that bodes well for me? . It was a Friday design and Monday build as Ker puts it.

I'm riding the rigid this weekend.

Ordered a 585 and new lifters and pushrods. And I ordered a fucking oil pump rebuild kit from powerssportsuperstore which is out of Austin, TX 2 weeks ago never had a problem with them before usually ill get parts in 2 days.

I'm also putting new pipes on too. Bike will be down for awhile. Won't have all the parts till next week then I'm out of town

I've got two sets of the 2-1 stock pipes in my attic already.

I bought pipes from Paul awhile back he had on his sled for a few weeks they are the cool looking I've always wanted the Eddie trotta C4 and these are a clone but no heat shields on either models going to see how long I like them for. I'm sick of the V&H look.

By the end of the year I could have just built it myself.

I need to redo the heads too at some point.

Determined to make this a reliable machine some day. I have one reliable BDM trying to make it two

Since you need to do heads anyway, why don't ya bump up your cam larger than the 585 you ordered?

I want reliability more than HP. 600 cam would be more power north of 4k RPM I'm never riding in that range.. Rarely

Also 600 cam eats more gas, I need to stick around where I am at which is 140-150 miles on a tank. This bike is My tourer and I've been plenty of places in TX where 100miles won't cut it. I'm actually nervous about just going to the 585

I have a 630 Woods, and I can still get 150 + from a tank as long as I don't hammer on it like a maniac..

I could send you mine for a lsd but I have issues with giving someone else's design.
Jim was helpful to me when I was installing his work. If he would give the okay you can use mine for design

Thanks Paul, but I need RSD, not sure if the only difference is the openings for the belt. I would not want to guess at it. I agree with you about using someone else's design, ethics would prevent me from selling them.. I talked with Jim a few times and offered to drive to his shop and make it myself, he told me to be patient and when he gets around to it he will give me a call and we'll get one made up.. That was about 4 months ago..

To me it didn't matter, but I did drop from 42-45mpg to 30-32 after the 585, but then again I don't do 50-100 miles cruisin on an interstate either to get better mpg.

I went from 30 to 35 mpg to 25 to 28 mpg with the 585 cam, well worth it though, if I cruise I can squeeze out 120 miles (including reserve) in a tank of fuel.
