Contemplating either a rebuild, or up grade from the 117".
Motor still sound and reliable, but i am starting to burn a little oil on a 1000 mile run.
Toying with a 124"!
Anyone using one of these?
How long have you had it?
Any problems?

Since when did the 121" get relegated to "other" status?
Since i am not interested in a 121!!!!!!!!!
I know 3 people who have had these grenades. All 3 are sitting in boxes under benches never to see the light of day again.

I have a 107+ in the 2003 Chopper and a 124 in the 2007 K9. The 124 feels like you can pull a tree stump out of North Carolina Red Clay. A lot of fun!! The 107 is a pleasure. Plenty of balanced torque and power. Never had a 117, but with a bigger cam, I have seen it do wonders.

Yes I blew a head gasket on the 124, but any one of us can have that happen. Curtis has a 124 too if I am not mistaken. It is a tight squeeze in the frame....but well worth it IMO.

Not a fan of Rev Tech or Ultima motors personally. Have friends that have had big problems. Everytime I see one I think the person just wanted to save money.

I had an old friend that had a Patrick Racing motor in a Pro Sport bike...think it was a Redneck Engineering bike. Don't know what size it was, but that thing was crazy fast!! I don't know how reliable it was, but I know at the time, he couldn't run pump gas in it.

That 124 sounds fun!

Any idea what cam you got in the 124?

While we are on rebuilding ...who's running the lifters with the LT kits? Seems to be what S&S is pushing these days but only seems like they will be noiser. Not sure how limiting the travel would quiet things. I'm more interested in smooth than HP.

At present the guy's i ride with are all upgrading their HD's to the 110".
Some have had a "little bit of work done", so blowing them off is getting harder, i still have them on outright top end, but i digress.
I had a Renagade 137" 10 years ago, boy did that thing shake rattle and roll, got 1500 mile to a rear tyre.
It is in a drag bike now, where it belongs.
I had to wear an adult diaper each time i rode it.:flush:

I'm running limiters in my lifters,585 cam, roller rockers and I have done the install.
Motor running quiet as! (s&s recommends limiters with 585 cam)

Not sure. I was told it was equivalent to a 124"R" but I have no idea if that is accurate.

You are probably right. Haven't pulled it to see. All I know is it says American Ironhorse, soon to be changed and
It has roller rockers and a soon to be fixed blown head gasket! Lol!
124 in my slammer came with 640 cam, what year is your motor?
