I have the DD red, I like it and it works great. I had the stock speedo problem where it would not boot with the ehc on start up. That solved the problem. Only complaint I have is that in real bright light at just the right angle, it is hard to read. Not often, but just under the right light conditions. I am not familiar with the Autometer, is that the one that replaced the stock speedo on some of the late models?

Thanks for the info. I messaged you. When Sheldon waged war on reliability, he basically authorized "a blank check" to get to the bottom and fix the "usual suspects" causing issues. The list started as EHC,Speedo,Starter leak, etc. After investing more money than I have seen in my lifetime, the findings of this new test engineering department still resonate in our designs and engineering today. They measured over 50 "Gs" at the speedo/handlebars and battery tray. This means an environment 50x the weight of gravity. Run some quick math in your head and you will understand how violent this is. This was due to the harmonics and oscillation coming from the big-displacement motors. We found that a mechanical-type gauge had a significantly lower service life than the digital gauges simply due to the moving parts. That is why we changed to medallion speedos In 2010 (less mechanical parts). The Dakotas don't have moving parts and, in my opinion, are the best option out there. We use them exclusively on the 2016 big dogs for a reason. I personally like mechanical/needle/type gauges over digital but you will find a Dakota on my bike. Hope this helps you. I'll beat anybody's price here at BDM. In-stock.

Its NOT pink. Its magenta. Get it right.Well, as long as it doesn't clash with your pink riding gear it will be fine...![]()
I was just being sarcastic. I know you Mazooria boys always wear magenta.... now the NY and Cali guys always wear pink...Its NOT pink. Its magenta. Get it right.
I do like the classic autometer look for sure but Matt is completely right for the longevity. I have not had to change out the speedo on my Ridgeback, but I have had to replace a few of the stock speedos for other Big Dog riders. Dakota Digital blue might suit you quite well Shain. When Sheldon waged war on reliability, he basically authorized "a blank check" to get to the bottom and fix the "usual suspects" causing issues. I like the red oneI have the blue one and its easy on the eyes, if your bike is blue, then blue it would be if it were mine. I also added a volt meter, same color![]()
Gotta say.... Matt is right! I went through 2 or 3 stock speedo's.... the needle would just start going crazy. That problem went away when I switched to the DD blue. I prefer the manual speedo, and like the look of the autometer, but good luck if you install it!When Sheldon waged war on reliability, he basically authorized "a blank check" to get to the bottom and fix the "usual suspects" causing issues.
