Do Booster seats really work???

I am still trying to get used to riding my 04 Ridgeback...I am just under 6ft tall but I swear I have to stretch out to reach the handlebars...I am ok but it makes letting the clutch out a bit trickey and the gas gets a bit jerky too.
Resolution is either new bars that come back farther or maybe the booster seat. Damn I hate saying that word (Booster Seat)....How about a few ideas here guys...New bars with new cables ...roughtly $700...I just cant see that..

So does the seat really help and if so how does it look on the bike???
Thanks:job:

first off, proper term is "push" seat. does that sound better? next, if you bought the bike used, verify that the previous owner didn't put forward control extensions on the bike. it may be as simple as removing the extensions if they are there.

if you do not have the extensions, the controls (rear master cylinder)will be bolted directly onto the frame mount instead of onto a piece of flat billet about 2 1/2" long.

We can't do returns on the special order stuff. Basic rule of thumb is that once we ship it out, unless there is a defect, it's a done deal.

EASIEST way to determine on this is literally to slide forward on your seat 2" and see how the bars feel. Also think about your leg/foot position. Is that comfortable? You may be ok on the controls and just notice the arms. That will be covered by the seat.

For a 6ft guy if you get the push seat you may end up with with to short a distance to the pegs that will result in your knees in the air.
Better to get the newer longer bars that so many of have put on. If you do that think about getting the speedo bracket also as the angle will change and the distance from the tank (clearance).

The bars are on eBay where I bought mine for under $100 bucks. Look for Shovelheadkicker!

Ray....you are the man!!!! let me check ebay...You bring up a good point. My legs are ok..it's mearly the reach to the bars that kick my ass!!! One of my fears is if i have to make a quick decision to accelerate I may loose the bars completely..Serious power that reacts very quickly...I am use to the HD stock wideGlide..This bike is quicker and that means I might just bust my ass if I am not careful ( I know, I sound like a girlyman)!!!haha

To all others that reponded...thanks a ton...this is the forum to be on.

Thanks for the information..I looked and I honestly dont know if it has the extentions or not. My legs are ok but like you stated, the bars are a tad too far away. Anyway after i posted this afternoon a friend came by on a 08 Ridgeback and I can believe how far the stock bars came back on his vs mine. As much as I hate it I believe the 08 bars are the way I must go. still researching seat issue.
Thanks again for the imput!!:2thumbs:

I would think that if you go with the push seat and the forward controls are okay now, that you will find yourself crunched on the controls, though better on the hand controls. Different bars may be the way for sure, or if the seat does the job and you find now the feet are not good, then it will be more to get the extended forward (barring that they are not on there now.

Good luck either way you go.

Yea, I think i am right where you are on this one. I feel like i dont have the forward controls and really my legs feel ok right where they are. Like you said I feel the bars are the answer. I just hate to spend $700 for new bars and cables.
Thanks for your inputFS..
See ya:hi:

Thanks for your reply..I am talking with Beezachopper on making me a seat like I want in a push up design. I am talking to several other seat builders as well but the big issue is the waiting time to get it made.:2thumbs:
