EHC RIP Install

preparing to install on my 2004 Ridgeback, and I noticed the new backbone harness doesn't have a key switch lead like my original harness. Also noticed the new backbone harness has two leads for the compression relief valves, but my original harness has both compression relief leads separate from the backbone harness and without connectors.

So I can always splice the compression leads, but the missing key switch lead has me concerned. Anyone have ideas or experience with this install?

Thanks in advance for the help!

You are right on the compression leads. Must be spliced together. You should have a two pin connector for the key.

Thanks for the feedback. I don't have that lead in my harness. There is a separate short harness with three connectors and an eyelet ground wire, but it's not labeled. There's also a small module with a single pigtail and connector which I'm not clear on either. Wouldn't be so bad if they provided instructions or covered this in the YouTube video.

The small model would be your new starter relay that you didn't have before.

Hopefully hear back from BDM tomorrow on the key switch question. I'll post an update once this is all sorted out... Might document the install on you tube, to help other novices with the conversion.

Hopefully they can fix you up. I don't know if there's a difference in the wiring between the Ridgeback and the Mastiff. Same year.

I just bought the same kit for my 2004 Pitbull no instructions. Called, same info you got. Please let me know what and how you wired compressor and other plugs. Also mine is a split gas tank and has a gauge ( Annunciator) it's lights for turn, lights, ignition.

I'm almost done with my install... and will post a how to video on YouTube. The guys at BDM explained everything to me over the phone. It's not plug and play, but it isn't that bad if you have instructions.

The three biggest differences are:

You have to splice the compression relief valve wires or install 2 pin JST connectors on the factory compression valve leads.

Have to route a second harness for the coil and key switch through the backbone with the main backbone harness, this secondary harness connects to the main backbone in the battery area, and the ignition module, and a ground.

Lastly I had to install the momentary module to the main backbone harness in the battery area.

Everything else was plug and play.

BTW: getting the harness through the backbone was hell! :)

That helps a lot. Did you order some JST plugs and if you did from where. That would be nice in a video. I can't find the exact plugs that are on the harness. But I guess any good quality would work. Thanks for letting me know what the extra wire is for. Can't wait for the video. I also need to get a battery any suggestions

I am currently using an HD battery. Part number: 65989-97c, 315cca, no issues with it. You will need to have a minimum of 310cca. You can also check out Wild Steed Worx for a few other choices of batteries. I'll be ordering my next battery from WSW.

Also, there are some good threads here on the forum about batteries that you can search and read over. :old2:

What is the momentary module? And what is the 11/2-1/2in little plastic box for?

The momentary switch is for your high/low switch to work like stock.

This is a new thing they included, I did not receive one. I believe that thunderheart manual I posted includes basic wiring on the switch too.
