V&H 2-1 exhaust bracket.

Hello All!! So on my way home from a late night ride I heard a strange rattle coming from the rear of the bike. Upon my arrival at home I further inspected the bike and found the bracket in the rear that goes from the bike to the pipes cracked. My question is since I bought the bike used with the pipes already on it, is the bracket a big dog part or is it a V&H part? Thanks for any info on this.

This is a common problem. Just have it welded back together and repaint it, you will be good to go.

I have the same pipe on my K9, i had to design and fabricate my own bracket, i think it took 3 attempts to get it to stop breaking.
However there is no way i can fit pillion pegs to mine without changing pipes.
As Mr Wright say weld it up, but i would a gusset on each end or one between the holes, this is what i ended up doing.
Hasn't broken in 4 years.

I think I'm going to give it a go and make one out of some aluminum bar stock and see how that works. Thanks for everyone's input.

I'm not Jeff but I rewarded mine and added a gusset under the break.down a search for busted exhaust bracket and you can see the pictures I posted. Hope this helps

I am Jeff, sorry no pic of bkt.
1/8" plate would work for gusset, just remember to let it cool down without water or you may create more problems.
As far a Aluminium goes, unless you bike has zero vibration stay well clear. If this bkt breaks while out riding chances are most people have welding equip to repair mild steel, only specific workshops would have alum repair gear.

Brew you call v&h they may still have brackets floating around few years back they still had 2-2 brackets
