The Road to Recovery

Going to have him up and riding soon.
A good friend of mine stopped by tonight before we went on a ride. He's a kick ass body man, so I showed him the tank. He said it was an easy fix, and he'll pull the dent for free.
I really don't know how to respond to this. It's really overwhelming when somebody you don't know/never met offers to help.
I'm hoping he owns a Dog also and he's going to Unleashed. Ive got a feeling I'll be buying a few drinks.

We've been working on him, and he's looking. He likes the 03 Chopper like mine. The big problem we're going to have is, we're going to have to find another bagger to ride with us, to haul our shit.

Ok, back to Shain's bike. I know there has been a lot of threads about adjusting the magnet sensor for the front brake, but never about the magnet in the lever. If you are changing the lever out, that little magnet is glued in there. I was afraid I was going to break it off, trying to get it out. So I poured some paint thinner in a cup, and soaked it for about 10 minutes, and it pulled right out.

Well, that was November 7th at about 8:30pm. I was unable to walk at all for about 6 weeks. Then I could hobble on crutches for another 2-3 weeks, then I walked cane assisted for another month or so after that.

BUT, other than the big hole in my wallet, I've made a full recovery. The wallet is still mending, but it will get there too.
Damn dude sorry to see that.. hope all is well

I may be wrong but I thought it was held in with a tiny ass set screw

Having problems getting the caps loose on the fork tubes. Anybody have a easy trick to get them off?
Are you talking about the triple tree caps?
If so:
Spray in some penetrating oil
Wrap them in painters tape after wiping off the excess oil
Make sure to use the correct wrench if memory serves me well 1 5/16 ? Like I said memory ??

Use a hammer and just tap lightly

That means he's never done his forks before haha

I've had to use a strap wrench.

There's a nice rubber one at harbor freight for like $5 that worked great

I have one, and that was my next step. Filled the top with panther piss, and soaking over night.

Well, I guess you are technically right. But in my defense, I only had the bike a bit over a week before the accident.
I was noticing today that the salt air in Florida (where she spent most of her life) has caused a few things to less than perfect.

Agreed I should not have said "he" and just meant "they" have never been done before and that's fine. When I got my bike they were the same way glued on because I bought it with only 3K mikes and it was already 7 years old so by the time I did them those caps wernt touched in 9 years!

You a very right about salt water air, wrecks havoc on stuff especially chrome.
