The tank should go on pretty easily if not with a small bit of grease on the rubber mounts. If it's a struggle to get it back on there may be another issue. Where does the tank seem to be stuck on while trying to slide it on?

First thing is do a formal intro, that way we can get to know you a little better. I had a 05 bulldog and the mount under the tank is a twist loc, you have to remove one of the bolts so it will pivot on the center bolt, make sure you loosen the center bolt to allow it to rotate, set it so the rubber mounts on the ends are in line with the frame, a little dielectric grease will definitely help so a little on each end and on the frame mount, carefully slide the tank on without messing up any of your jst connectors, if you screw any up you will be doing this many times, don't ask how I know, Lol! Anyway once it is in place, securely on the rear frame mount, you can twist the front mount to lock the tank in place with a 3/8 drive ratchet extension, no socket on it just shove the end of the ratchet in the mount that you took the bolt out of and twist it in place, once in place put the bolt in that you took out and tighten both bolts and you are good to go my friend!
