06' K9 won't start after wash

hey guys
ok my set up is RIP gen 2 EHC replacement. stock Super G carb, had just re-installed Hooker Trouble maker pipes. so after I was done with the exhaust work I figured let me wash and polish my dirty bitch. been a while and she so pretty when gussied up. Dumbass that I am I used an aluminum cleaner on anything dull. well while rinsing it off, I used a garden hose on jet setting because the spray kept sudsing and was hard to rinse. then I tried to start her up and she tried and sputtered into silence. everything electrical works speedo turn signals horn... when I hit the start button, all I hear is my compression valves clicking. ignition wires look dry (did not pull the plugs. any suggestions. no I was not smart enough to bag wrap or protect anything! just an idiot with a hose!!!

Check to make sure you didn't accidently remove the green wire on the starter when you were cleaning.

If all the electronics work, you are in pretty good shape.

Hey Tim, I did check it but it was already wonky . the contact inside the starter is broken I repaired it with connector ends until I can get it rebuilt. I live in North Jersey and ride with a club. can't afford the down time (missed a ride today with this shit) so I do what I can to keep her running.

yeah I took a while before I tried to start her and didn't blow dry at all.

I don't know what it's called but if I face my K9, look down on the right side above the VR, there is a wire there that popped out once when I was washing the bike. Pull it all the way off, sprayed some computer compressed air on it, plugged it back in and it started right up. Don't know if this helps or not. Just sayin.. Good luck and safe trails..

That was the plug to your stator coming from the VR, the other one is to the crank sensor, but you need to remove a screw for that one to come out.

Thanks bro.. I did not know what they were called. Yes the one with the screw was okay It must have been the crank sensor.. Thanks again for the pick-me-up..

Your battery is weak. Hook some jumper cables to the scoot and your vehicle and start the vehicle and raise the RPMs for a few minutes, then turn off the vehicle and leave the cables on and start the bike. That should work!

If you washed it with the seat off you might have standing water on top of the ECH and the connections.

ok tim I will check those connections I did focus hose there. as for the battery I had it on a tender yesterday and today guru but still worth a shot. washed with the seat on and checked the ehc any way. bone dry.

Update, Tim, I did move the starter wire and she tried to crank over.
Guru, you were right too. after having her on the tender all day the battery appears weak , will replace tomorrow.

Whatever you do, once you get the battery, put it on a few hours charge before using it. Don't just throw it in and start cranking! I know your antsy but be patient and charge it first...

I have had great luck with my Duracell battery from Batteries Plus, over a year now and no problemo's, but that's also with Doc's ESC installed the whole time! Just wondering why you are referring to everyone as "Tim"
