Is it just me or are our bikes very rapidly depreciating? For shits and giggles I was looking at Street Glides, one thing led to another I was looking at some BDMs for sale and $10,000 seem to be what a K9 is going for these days. It seemed not to long ago they were $15,000 all day long. Do you think the price is dropping real rapidly all of a sudden. Friend just bought a new HD and asked what he could get for trade in on his 2009 K9 and they offered him $5,000. Hes even had everything chromed!!!!!

Lots of details missing here but...here's a look at what lenders use when loaning against them if models are similar. Bear in mind, that the HD dealer will resell that bike nowhere near $5k. He also has the ability to sell a nationwide support system of parts and service that BD owners don't have available to them. A similar HD SHOULD have a higher value to prospective buyers with that in mind alone.

But I can't put a $ value on being able to take any road I choose without a chance of passing myself while doing it. I like being a Big Dog way more than parking with dozens more that look just like me. My $.02

I agree with you BUT..... a 2009 BD is already 7 years old. If I built a NEW bike like a big dog it would have a "real" warranted S&S motor, A "real" warranted Baker trans, $25 wheel bearings instead of $5 Korean bearings, An electrical system designed like an old school Harley, controls that could be totally replaced for $150 - $250, a Spike starter, Progressive shocks, quality front end seals and top of the line stator and VR. It might cost me $18k - $22k but it would last a long, long time without breaking down. All the things I mentioned are the reason BD bikes are losing their value. They are one of the best "looking" bikes out there but the quality is lacking and we all know this if we are honest with ourselves.... The best of both worlds is to buy a rolling BD frame with tins and start there....

All comes down to who wants it and how bad..... if somebody rolls up n offers me 15k, its time for me to find a new Dog..... these bikes are not getting any younger. It may take 25 yrs or so before they are real collectors items?

I got a 110 Harley shit motor with 30,000 trouble free miles. Now, with this being said she'll probably shit herself on my next ride.:) Oh, while we are spanking the Harleys, my wife's heritage has over 32,000 miles with most of the mile on it with the 107 Revolution kit. I think it has a lot to do with the maintenance and how they are treated.:oldthumbsup: I took my tool bag outa the streetglide and now carry it on the dog.

There are some very much needed upgrades on Big Dogs to make them reliable but once that 3K in parts is spent you should be good. I do like the 04 model because it only needs an electrical upgrade. Trans and clutch are fine. I've put more work into the 07 than the 04 by FAR! And I've owned the 04 much longer, with more miles go figure That's why I'm glad in 2016 they got rid of the problem parts.

Funny u all r talkin about this, I got a call the other day asking if my bike was for sell and what I should put it up for (16,500) and sent me an email with other like mine for sale and other like mine that had just sold within 90 days prior and what they sold for.. average price was about 17,200 and that's because one guys sold his 08 k9 for 21k because of low mileage blah blah.. but if u looked at the ads and averaged it yourself taking that one out, it was on the mark of about 16k.. so just do some research. Go to seller network and they show all the mags they produce in etc.. one of them is Cycle world and just look up big dog and you will c what they r going for. Yes if u have the factory shit wiring u aren't going to get much.. but if you have replaced it and updated it, you will get what it's worth.. good luck

To each his own... I personally value my bikes on what work I've put into them. With that being said, my 05 Ridgeback will be staying with me. But to me, half the fun is tearing into it, inspecting all components, and replacing any problem parts. It's a great bonding experience. You really get to know your bike and take pride in it because YOU are the reason it runs great. Big Dog's are incredible bikes, IMO the best on the road. I enjoy putting the time into our bikes.

It is a given fact, that in today's economy, any sort of hobby item (motorcycle, boat, trailers, snow mobile, hot rod, ect..) is going to take a serious beating, and that also goes for RV's and travel trailers. When people are making money whereas the percentage of money left, after living expenses, is back to where it used to be, than at that time all of the above values will come back. Forget what people are asking for this stuff, it's what someone is willing to pay for it. There is a ton of stuff on the market. If you have money, than you can call the shots. If the seller is serious about selling, he will understand the economy, and how bad it really is, and part with it upon an offer. In today's age, your lucky to even get an offer on something no matter how nice it is. Very sad. It all boils back down to the individuals leading our government, which in actuality are the ones who control the economy in a round about way. Dems will run high deficits and expect the working man to pay for the lazy ass saps that suck off the teet of our pockets.

Hopefully so. That would be real nice. Personally I think to the eye, they are the nicest small fleet of motorcycles available.

I think the issues that plague these bikes has knocked, not only the value down but the amount of buyers down as well. Not to many want to get involved with a money pit. They will opt for something else. Let's be honest, you can't compare a Big Dog and it's issues with that of a Harley. the Harleys have less than half the troubles. If I wasn't mechanically inclined, I wouldn't have bought my Big Dog K9. I would have bought another Harley.

You can look all day long at what people are ASKING for their bikes but go on ebay and do a sort by the bikes that were sold and THEN do an average. The number will be much lower and that goes for all bikes....
